Hey Guys,

I got a friend who parents have just bought an aston martin V8 Vantage N400 limited edition roadster. Sweet car but I guess expensive on the insurance. Which is why he asked me to do some searches on the net to find the best insurance possible as he's not really into the internet. So I thought I would ask you guys as I'm not experienced in this field. His mother who is aged just over 50 wants to be insured but wants to keep her current private license late from her jaguar that she's had for over ten years. She want's to transfer this plate over to the aston martin. The aston is a 08 model but will be registered for this year 09. My friends mother has had a clean license, and my friend also wants to be registered as the second driver, my friend is 28 and has had a clean license as well and held one for nearly four years. So who offers the best insurance, the cheapest they have been quoted is £1950 for both of them or just £1600 for his mother. Anyone know of anyone better?

Many thanks in advance

errr, why would they be asking YOU about car insurance?
do you have any knowledge of the prestige market?

also, is it really wise to go for the cheapest insurance on such a car? no, not really.

on topic though, who the hell buys an AMV8 then worrys about the price of insurance?

may i be the 1st to call bs?

Moneysavingsupermarket and comparethemarket are always very expensive, you can get cheaper quotes by doing the legwork yourself and going to an insurance company who don't use sites like these.

Surely they should be looking at insurance companies aimed at insuring high performance cars?

This also made me laugh -

LOL

Who the heck buys an Aston, isn't into the internet and doesn't know about insurance. Must suck having to pick up the phone and flick through the Yellow Pages.

Insurance is subjective on who you are, where you live and what you drive and you driving history. This kind of car will more than likely be better off insured by an independant broker who specialises in this kind of vehicle as most mainstream compnaies may add a silly premium for a car of such value.

just read half that other thread, why not start your own insurance company up and insure them yourself seeing as though you've got loads of money lying about, hell, you could even beat shielas wheels quote.

edit, whilst we're at it, will you insure me on my audi, my best price so far is £18.32, can you beat it?

This post is brought to you courtesy of dvdbunny productions. The epitome of internet bull**** since 2004.

Because the quotes can vary even more wildly at this end of the market than for "normal" cars - if you're not clued up on the internet/price comparison sites you could easily get ripped off. I don't think it's an unreasonable request but then DVDbunny should be able to use confused.com or moneysupermarket himself. Other than that, perhaps he was asking for specialist exotica/high performance insurers, or brokers who specialise in such cars. You may have better luck over at PistonHeads for such information. :)

easy solution then, go find an aston OG and ask them, probably good deals can be had through an affiliate. or hell, ask AM if they recommend anyone, gives a good ball park figure to work with!

I dont know if I love this guy more than Doran and scott212 or not.

Give it some time :p Must have been nice for you before he found the motor's subforum to spam too :p

They told me they tried norwich union and sheila wheels where they got their quotes. They want better?

What the hell is the point, your posts even read like a Nigerian scam. For a start Sheila's wheels will not cover Astons, so there is a little hole in that lie already without even looking into it.

The mistake you make is posting this on a subforum where people actually DO have experience with insuring this type of vehicle, stick to talking about this with your school mates and it may not be so obvious.
