Loving this album, heard all the songs and reviews and managed to get a promo copy at the end of last week. just had the real deal arrive at my door. Fantastic album really enjoying it so far, Actung Baby is my favourite album from U2 and this reminds me of that in a way. Loving track 03 'Moment Of Surrender' really made me stop what i was doing and listen. love the sound of U2 running through it no matter what the song is, if that makes sense!

Is it like the last album, where you have to listen to it a few times in order to appreciate it? I remember disliking the last album quite a bit, but then ending up loving it.

Not liking their new single though.

yes and no, a few stood out, but giving it a clear blast all the way through a few times help. and like wise i was not a big fan of the latest single. it's just Bono he loves the 'big bang single'

There's some quite good tracks and some awful tracks, not one of their better efforts in my opinion. Unfortunately I can't name any tracks for good or bad reasons as I just don't know them but the opening track is annoying while the going crazy tonight one sounds something like "City of Blinding Lights" and possible my current favourite on the album, it's certainly the one that has stuck with me and is floating around my head the whole time.

waiting for the tour dates to come out, and hoping the $50 i spent on membership will get me my pre sale tickets

well i have seen them a few times now, and the only way you have a real chance is signing up to the u2 membership on the web site $50 gets you a cd and few other bits and access to the pre sale when it comes in the next month or so... i would think uk tickets will be around £50. other than that you might get lucky and get them on the day of release or pay over the odds on ebay

Got it a week early and don't really like it. Bono still have not sorted his vocal problems and despite from Edge, Larry and Adam being like their usual fine old wine selfs, the singing is letting this album down. The music and melodies is really good though. They're still a good band, but they will never recapture the heights of creativity that was War, Unforgettable Fire, through the J.T and Rattle and Hum. To me they changed in '91 with Achtung Baby (a good album for what it is) and became just another band.

what vocal problems? his voice on 'Moment Of Surrender' was recorded in one take and that sounds amazing vocal wise.

U2 will always change but stay the same....... you can't expect them to rock out punk routed rock albums like they did in the eaarly 80's, but for sure any fan will hear the riffs and sounds of the early u2 flowing through the album.

I might give this a whirl.

"Where the streets have no name" and "With or without you" have such stories connected to them I just don't really listen to any others.

shut the front door:p All that you can't leave behind was a stomper and atomic bomb had three number 1's from a rock band in there 40's

Haha, well having number 1's does not equate to good music. Thier post 80's stuff is not "dire" but when you compare it to some of the songs and albums of the 80's it pales in significance.

Boy, October, War and Actung Baby were really really good albums and there were some great songs on them.

yeah they were good albums, what keeps u2 at the top is the constant reinvention and actung baby was in the 90's !! :p

i reckon you lot are just to young me and 30 have grown up with them :D

Not me - I first saw them supporting Cliff Richard at the Greenbelt Christian Festival.
I went to see them during Boy & October and I haven't liked anything else they've done since then.

I'm pretty sure U2 came top in a thread that was started on here called 'What big bands do you dislike' or similar.
U2 walked away with it while RHCP & Radiohead came a close second.
