For those who are religious

I'm Christian, I don't agree with everything taught by a single denomination and have some of my own interpretations of the bible, mostly very well thought out and comparable to teachings of the Protestant church.

I fully believe in God and have seen proof that makes me know that He exists. It's the kind of proof however that is only relevant to the person/people at the time, and would not be counted as evidence in a court of law. Similar to someone getting a sore knee out of the blue for a minute and then it going away, no one else can feel or see it, but the person knows it.

I believe in evolution and don't believe that the whole Bible is literal fact, partly due to the passing of the early Bible as word of mouth, the later Bible also being written a generation or so after the events, but also to do with the fact that some parts of the Bible are used as metaphors and illustrations of God's plan/intentions. The fact that the Old Testament was written for Jews at the time, and that the Bible as we know it was mostly collated many years after it was written also don't help the fact that it is 100% literal.

9/11 would not of happened if Religion didnt exist. The war in Iraq would not have happened. The trillions spent on Iraq war could have fixed this Economy down-turn.

Not really as the money has mostly been spent in industry anyway. It isn't like they are blowing up trillions of dollars.

Now-a-days people are SCARED to go anywhere in a plane in fear of terroism attacks.

Rubbish. I have flown quite a few times since 9/11 and will continue to do so.

These mass-murders you are talking about believed in SOMEONE they were not ATHEIST.

Eh? Stalin and Pol Pot were communists and both atheists.

This country is being taken over BECAUSE OF RELIGION.

THE ENTIRE POLITICAL SYSTEM IS RAN BY IDIOTS WHO BELIEVE IN A GOD.

I would say the UK has very little religious influence in it's politics of late, especially considering the nominally christian nature of the country and the importance of religion in our history.

This whole world will end in the next 15 years. At UK Airports, 80% of Security staff are NOT english and CAN'T BE TRUSTED. They will be BRAINWASHED by the leaders.

/rant

Exactly why will the world end in the next 15 years?

but bar that, we're ok yeah? :D

Religion is just a tool..The real motivation is power and greed..Thats what us humans run on...

Every 'religious war' in history was simply using religion as a way to rile up the people..The real motivations were money, land and power...Always been that way, always will be that way.

If i were speaking for myself, i would have said some far worse things :D:D

but seriously....talkin about mankind here, not you specifically...or am i? - -

The phase "us humans" is inclusive of you and me, so you were talking about us both. The majority of the world just want to get on, find some happiness and look after their friends and family. Nobody I know is fueld by greed and power, everyone is fueld by fear.

Stop being so pedantic. Its quite clear I was talking about humanity as an entity, not on an individual basis.

If that is the case, why is humanity stuck in a cycle of endless violence and war? Also, nobody you know is in the position to influence anything on a wide scale...Correct? We are just the pawns who get used by those who run things.

I think there is an awful misconception on here with Christianity. Forget being in a so called Christian country and all that.

A person doesn't inherit Christianity from their parents. It is a single act that happens once and only once in a Christians live. Becoming a Christian involves accepting that the death of Jesus was enough to forgive sins on an individual basis. It is faith which is placed upon Jesus and what the Bible says that took place at Calvary.

A person doesn't have to know anything about the Bible before they can be a Christian. It is just simple faith. It is nothing to do with going to church or paying money or anything.

As pointed out above the church is the collection of believers rather than a building. In our church we don't have a priest or anything. The format for a New Testament church is clear in that it shouldn't be a one man setup i.e. we are all on the one level and any of the guys can speak and worship etc. This does away with the idea that there is some dude up at the front blabbering on, and it definitely different to the way most churches work. We don't cling on to a denominational title e.g. Presbyterian, Baptist on anything like that. Instead it is simply the local church of God based on the Bible directly. Churches are to be individual and we don't take orders with a hierarchy or an HQ.

I think a lot of folks perhaps don't get the point that the Bible is for those that are Christians to be like a 'guide book' or roadmap for living. Therefore it won't make much sense in places to those who aren't Christians. As well as this is details the message called the gospel which is about Jesus and his death etc.

However, it should be said that you don't have to ever read the Bible before you can be a Christian. You don't ever have to be in a church to become a Christian. You don't have to pay money or anything.

I hope this clears things up somewhat as I feel that many people are getting the wrong end of the stick in thinking that a Christian country and being a Christian are the same thing!
