Lyle and Scott - Adidas poppers of '08?

A mate of mine spent £70 on two (yes two) polo shirts from Lyle and Scott. What's even worse is they look awful, with creases sewn in deliberately and a big mash of pastel colours to top it off.
 
Jesus, some of the labels mentioned in this thread look like "toffs" clothing. I wouldnt even be able to afford a pair of socks from that Jack and Wills outfit.

Give me TK Maxx, Primark and Peacocks :D

Mmm..i was buying Lyle and Scott jumpers and Pringle in 1983 when casuals were about i was 16 at the time and half my wages of £40 a week went on jumpers and Fila rollnecks ect

Fashions come and go in circles such as the Tacchini tracksuit tops which made a revival a year or so back, that's why all the retro Adidas and Nike stuff is being released lately.

All this sort of stuff was very in.

I've got a Lyle & Scott v-neck jumper, bought it about a year ago. It is nice but I don't think its any better in terms of quality than River Island. Topman is far too indie-rock Kooks-esque for me, I prefer River Island and Zara as they are nice for the smarter look.

I don't think I would buy another Lyle & Scott top, they aren't particularly well made. My favourite brand at the moment is Ralph Lauren because their stuff is extremely well made, classy, timeless, and simple. Also love Paul Smith clothing at the moment.

Lyle and Scott cotton Harrington jacket in navy, front button up pockets, with Lyle and Scott signature logo on chest is a feast for eyes. These casual wears make me feel special.

If people think Lyle & Scotts are overpriced, then what's your view on high fashion pieces, from Dior, D&G, Paul Smith...etc?
 
So that what the golden eagle is, never knew what brand it was, grown out of needing the in fashion brands, its just a waste of money to impress *****.
 
Lyle & Scott are indeed golf wear, and way overpriced for a fashion item. They also don't look too good when people wear the bright pink v neck jumpers :/

However, i buy a lot of my clothes from the states, particularly from a store called American Eagle (www.ae.com) and often get mistaken for wearing this lyle and scott crap :(

For people with more money than sense...unless the quality of the garment actually warrants a higher price tag I don't pay it. I bought a really nice leather jacket after Christmas which was £160 it's the most expensive item of clothing I have ever bought. Other than that I think the most expensive item was probably £40 - £50.

I have never ever shopped by brand, my dad is in the clothing business I was brought up around it. I can tell an item from the materials and finishing not from the price tag. The amount of times I have seen terrible quality T-Shirts from the expensive brans is amazing.....few washes and it will be like a rag.

Have never understood everyone wearing the same big name brands, it just screams out "I'm shallow" don't you want your own look?

Lyle & Scott has recently (passed month) got big down here (Devon)..

Loads of people wear it.. I didnt realise it was a golfing make.. I play golf and havnt seen anyone wear it.

Fair enough, but I do see there are proper designer pieces with better cut than high street stuff, which when worn, will look better on the person.

Though, as I have many rich friends who load their closet with expensive designer pieces, they are often haunted by the low quality make from them, which is a big shame really. For example, a friend of mine own a jacket by Marc Jacob costed her £250 and the pocket + button fell off :rolleyes:
 
Was actually a decent brand to wear a few years ago, completely ruined now by the geezer/ Essex crew wearing it now :(

Pretty much like Ralph Lauren now :(
 
I have a nice Lyle & Scott jacket and polo shirt that I bought before everyone seemed to have them. I don't really mind if the brand has become popular now, I liked the clothes when I bought them, and I still like wearing them now.
