Im off ill today and my brain isn't working very well. Can anyone help me work out the size of the room in this schematic?

I need to know the length and width and ideally the width of the doors. Damn estates not drawing plans to scale.

:)

Doors should be 900mm wide if that helps :) I dont think you can work out the length and breadth of each side without knowing any more info

Do you have the drawing as a file? If so, just use the dimension tool in your CAD program surely?

Only got it as a pdf unfortunately.

Cheers. Surely it can be worked out from calculating the lenght to width ratio then doing some maths with the volume of the room? Or something like that... :o

If you know the width of the doorways then you can find out the length & width of the room. Otherwise, you're stuffed.

But its not to scale, therefore is impossible. Can you do a survey or request a better drawing?

If the drawing isnt to scale you could have any number of combinations of length and breadth that could work out to give the same area. it could be 10mx23.5m or it could be 17m x 13.82 etc etc

Can you not work out the ratio of width to length and work from the area ie which two numbers times together at that exact ratio will equall your given area?

The drawing should be fairly accurate. If someone could work it out to the ratio of the drawing it would do. :)

ITS NOT TO SCALE! lol :p there is no way to find the ratio of width to length if the drawing is not accurate to begin with.

Edit - well if the drawing is reasonably accurate then my guess would be roughly 10x23.5. Seems like the most sensible dimensions for the area

Not to scale doesn't mean not properly proportioned it may mean the doors are in the right place but not the right size or any number of other things, if the drawing isn't to proportion as far as the walls go then it's an immposible task but without doing the maths the guestimates look pretty close to me.

Cheers. That should do the trick. :)

ratio = 928/338
ratio = 2.746

x * y = 235.02

x = 2.746y

2.746y^2 = 235.02

y = 9.251m
x = 25.404m

Thanks,

That will do perfectly thank you. Gives me more space to work with than I had thought, which is nice. Now does anyone want to help me design a Photography/Graphics/Print/Scanning Studio? :p
