Which Universal Remote?

no it doesn't power on/off. other than that you get basic controls that a dual shock controller gives you, so not as complete as official PS3 remote.

only one I hear than can pwr on/off is the IR4PS3, but you need to import it from North America and not sure if it works with latest PS3 firmware, you need to check -> check AVforums to research it

IR thingy for PS3

linky pls?

did you mean the second IR thing I referred to?

Basically you need to get it from a guy called Ben in canada who makes them -> read article for contacts. From what I gather he mods a PS3 bluetooth remote so that it works w/ IR. You can then use your Harmony/pronto to transmit via modded remote (placed anywhere) to PS3. Seems that it works for everything, but not as cheap as Logic3 dongle. Seemed a bit complex to me so went for the Logic3.

anyway have a interesting read here w/ contact details

Has anyone managed to get this working with their gas fire? Mine doesnt have a remote built in but in the manual it says its capable. Does anyone know where I should be looking for the parts? I didnt buy the fireplace so cant even go there to ask.

Apart from your PS3 remote ;)

you can if you get IR dongle ;) since I need to physically put disc in anyway to watch a movie not a major issue the pwr on/off thing

PS another nice little thing is the rechargeable battery. don't need to feed an army of AAA batteries

Indeed.
Power on ps3 but bluray disc in

navigate blyray with harmony in my chair...:)

At half past midnight! :p Did it take you as long as it took me to get it right? I mean I've changed almost all of the standard settings for every device. It's great that they are so customisable but it's just too tempting to keep tweaking the settings!

I don't know about you, but I find the software is the worst part. It seems so slow and long winded. Like if you just want to change one thing you have to go through a whole load of other settings to get to it. Genius.

I agree about the software it could be better but the temptation to tweak makes me overlook the software flaws.

I found it ok

Although I do see your point.

Took about 2 hrs :p

But I was in the mood. Put it off for 3 days lol.

Once you have invested the time though.

Its a sweet "bit of Kit"!:D

What I like the most is how you can add whatever commands you like to an activity for any bit of equipment. For example, I've added, to 'Watch TV', the buttons from the amp remote for things like Dynamic volume/EQ, Surround modes, direct modes etc so that I can switch them on or off depending on what we're watching. There's no need to navigate through the remote to each components settings to find it. I've also added PJ buttons to 'Watch HTPC' for quickly switching between optimal colour settings for watching movies with all of the lights off and playing games etc in brighter conditions.

All I need now are remote lights and the transformation to full couch potato will be complete!! :D
