Demoing/ordering 7.1 home cinema next week

I'd recommend some Monitor Audio RS6's / RSCLR / RSFX's / SVS Sub, if you wan't to spend more then look into the Gold series of MA as they are awesome. I'm nearing completion of my cinema project and I can tell you that the RS series blow me away in movies and are great for music aswell and from reading reviews, the Gold's are even better.

I'd go with an Onkyo 876 over the Pioneer, remember you're paying a premium on a lot of AV gear at these times, more so with Pioneer. Also try to get the best deal out of the dealer as you're the one spending the money! You'd be supprised what he'd find as realistic.

Maybe with the money saved on speakers / amp you can put that towards a KRP 600A. I'd deffo look into that as it's one amazing TV.

Don't forget to include all your cables / connections in your budget and try not to get caught up in brands when buying.

Still, 876's can be had for £650 - £699 if you know where to look, maybe even cheaper =)

Was that brand new / second hand you paid? got to remember that a lot of AV gear has recently shot through the roof.

please bother to check the google links before posting if you click on links you will see price is actually £999 :p

also the Pio has lot more to offer

PS Brand spanking new ;), even the dealer the next day told me he made no money on it (which is dealer speak for you lucky SOD you really cut into my margins, I could almost see tears in his eyes, it made me smile - am I cruel?) just glad I had confirmed the order the night before

I wouldn't make a sweeping statement if I didn't know how much they can be had for. As for googling, it's you that needs to refine your search.

Onkyo TX-SR876 Receiver
(Original RRP £999) Black or Silver - Hot Deal - £699 - comes with 2 x 1m QED HDMI leads (RRP £100) / over night delivery / Standard Onkyo 3 year warranty.

I also just been off the phone to RS and they will match that price and throw in a 5 year supercare warranty. Just for the record, I bought my 876 from them for £679 + 5 year super care, like one month ago.

Prices on AV gear went through the roof like 2 weeks ago.

Don't think I can link as Ocuk use to sell TV's. But send me an email via my trust and I'll be happy to help you with your search.

Anyway, back to the op...

Now I'm confused lol I'll be changing the sub more than likely after reading this thread and reading over at av forums, thanks you guys for the info:D.

Get an SVS (either the PB13 or PC-Ultra) you won't be disappointed!

Oh and make sure you get an SPL and calibrate it properly :D

As for the 906 over the LX81 - I can't really vouch for the LX81, but I can say that the 906 is an awesome bit of kit, I managed to snap mine up for £899 a few months ago!

They run pretty hot, but no biggie.

I'll get them to swap it then and add a Onkyo TX-NR906 to the demo, also OCdude please could you tell me where you got the Onkyo TX-NR906 for £899 please? I have till Wednesday to change my mind.

Not sure if I can post...... but i'm pretty sure it should be okay, as I don't see ocUK selling receivers, can a mod clarify?

Ohh and the Silver version was even cheaper, at £799

"Get an SVS (either the PB13 or PC-Ultra)"

I had one of these with the demo that I had and got to say top notch!. Quite big aswell!

I've not had chance to listen to the Pioneer but I'm sure it's also a great bit of kit! can't fault the Pioneer amps really. From testing the 906 though, I can tell you that it's an awesome piece of kit regardless, It all comes down to what you need when deciding between the 876 /906.

The 906 is pretty much the 876 but with ethernet / USB capability.

Going back to High priced BD players, what was the reason ?.... Is just to be better music playback from CD's ??.... If so, a dedicated CD player would be better idea...
Other than that can't see the point of them...If your going to connect it with an HDMI lead !

I am also not convinced on these mid priced AV amps.... the lower priced ones; sure make a good value single box set up.... But your still not going to be getting into really good 2 channel/music performance with an Integrated AV amp.... It is doing far too much in side to compete with a good stereo HiFi amp....

What I found as a good upgrade in the past is, Don't use the internal power amp, us it just as an AV processors/pre-amp. Then have an external power amps.

So I'd get a cheaper BD player, CD player, Lesser spec AV amp, then add separate power amps...... Have some demo's and enjoy the shopping pleasure

You're allowed as long as They don't sell any of the same products!

Please can some one help me out please as I'm really confused as to what subwoofer cable I need for pairing a BK Monolith Subwoofer with a Onkyo TX-NR906. Do I need one or two phono to phono leads or do I need a Subwoofer Y-Splitter lead . Many thanks in advance and not sure if this will make much of a difference to what lead I need but I would be listening to music not just watching films! A behind shot of both av receiver and subwoofer if thats any help.
