**EMPIRE TOTAL WAR**

Pro Tip: When you have your line infantry in double line formation (One behind the other as support) tell the second line to hold fire :(. Half my deaths from my last battle were caused by my own men in the second line.

But I didnt mind so bad as I had just starved Bavaria's only city, after a defeat they got on me earilier that year I got my own back. Its supprising what 5 units of Line Infantry will do to some starved militia, especialy when the Line Infantry are sat behind trenches and are using Rank Fire... the desperate milita charged my lines :D. It was a bloodbath.
Militia are so much fun to slaughter. The amount of times I've come across a city with nothing but militia in it - it's such a pointless exercise that I just go for the auto-resolve unless they outnumber me horribly :D

That battle I told you about on Steam yesterday (while you were installing) did not go well. My poor little army of 680 troops (line infantry, heavy cavalry and grenadiers), who were one turn away from replenishing all their numbers, was not ready for 18 units of 120 line infantry to leap out at them.
Then the game decided to hide them all behind some walls, so there was no chance I was gonna charge them. I had some crappy cannons firing away but in the end it ran out of time - and then it told me that I had lost - even though they had killed 70 of my cavalry and I had killed around 700 of them. Stupid thing. I came back later with a full army and they were nowhere to be found......

Mine binned it twice after I tried to invade one of the native americans areas by taking my army off the ships, and the declare war button not working properly, then the request access button not working, then the cancel move button not working.

Pro Tip 2: When in a naval battle and you decide to manual broadside make sure you click the correct side for your guns and not the side that covers one of your own ships thats currently engaged in a boarding action with the enemy:o The explosion took out my ship I'd accidently hit, the ship it was engaging and the ship I'd let the broadside rip from, I got a feel for how everyone must have felt watching L'Orient go up at the Battle of the Nile. It was great:D:cool:

how hard are the murghals to attack early on?
Not too hard at all - they seem very disorganised. Playing as the Maratha Confederacy it took me 26 years to subjugate all of India - and I was taking my time really. The Indian sub-continent is a good place to make some money, as long as you're prepared to backstab and connive your way through life. There's two bits of advice I could offer which would make it a lot easier for you, but kind of ruin the fun... so I'm not telling you! :D

LOL! I got so lucky with an exploding ship the other day - not being able to tell what ships are in an enemy stack is a proper pain in the bum!

Because this is on steam, does anyone know if there are cheats accessible or not, like there are on RTW and MTW2? Or would they knack these steam achivement things?

Encountered my first game breaking bug too now :(

Merging two navies together, as soon as I accept the changes, it goes straight back to desktop

I've posted it on the official support forums, along with the none game breaking bugs i've encountered (dodgey sounds, jerky campaign map etc)

Whenever i end the current turn, it just crashes, so 10 years remaining in the grand campaign, having only 3 regions left to capture in Europa, and having crushed most other armies and almost completed all research, i cannot complete it :/

I haven't noticed much difference to be honest...

LOL. Really? The demo disappointed me sorely, it ran like a heap of concrete being forced through a sieve. On first loading, I thought it had crashed because it took so long... it was quicker to do a hard-reset on the PC than wait for the menu and battle-report to appear.

:(

I've found the loading screens to be much faster on the full game myself. /shrug

Ingame performance seems about the same (though it ran fine for me in the demo too, was just the loading in the demo which was excessive)

Loading screens are still long on the retail game... but the demo itself ran great engine-wise.

I'm up to the stage of there being a 50% chance of a crash by doing this now, which is pretty much every turn on my campaign in 1720 if I forget about it. This supposed patch won't come a day too soon for me...

Once I had gotten past the loading screens and into the physical game, it seemed to run almost as smoothly as MII:TW does for me. But oh wow, those loading screens literally took five minutes... :o

I've found a workaround, albeit a little long winded. Instead of selecting the whole of one group and clicking on the second group, (which brings up the window if you have too many ships) I tried doing it 1 ship at a time, i never had the CTD then.

Its a pain in the arse, but it lets you continue without crashes

i have no problem with load screens they only take 20 seconds its just the troops that peeing me off they seem to take ages to respond to my orders if i give them 2 at once.
