I'm confused as of why Xbox always seem to bring out there console first, as this gives Playstation or other consoles time to look at it and easily think of ways to make it much better.(Adding blue Ray, bigger Hard drive etc)

I think the 360 must have came out over 1 year and half before the PS3 was released, this gives the other consoles time to look at it and add even better technology to there system than which they were planning to have anyway.

I just seem to think which ever console comes out first will be the less advance, and the one coming out at the later date will always be the successor.

I just feel its going to be the same again if there is a new Microsoft System, as Playstation wont be making anything new soon as there system hasnt been around long, and everything will repeat itself.

You do know that the Xbox 360 is their second console right?

The original Xbox came out after the PS2, the 360 came out 1 year before the PS3. (actually slightly under a year if you want to be picky - US/Jap release)

always???

It happened once - the 360; and it was a good move in the end as a lot of people didnt want to wait for the PS3 and opted with the 360 (even if they had planned to get PS3 as well).

Takes years to get the console from research to be fully developed so there would be very little which could be changed on a console regardless of what the competition launch with.

yes, well then its just swapped around this time with the gens consoles and the orginal Xbox was a small Improvement over the Playstation

You're very naive. Designing the next gen consoles started the second the current gen designs were finalised, and at a year before release absolutely no architecture changes and very little cosmetic changes can be made. Hard drive space will be on a price/payoff relationship at the time (hence both current consoles increasing size with time) and generally have no relation to competitors consoles.

ooh ok, i didnt know that they cant change there specs last minute as soon as they have any idea which there competitor consols spec is. i guess it does take a very long time to make sure all the hardware is created to work perfectly with eachother and changing it last mintute would cause loads of problems.

Xbox 360 was rushed to market simple as, if they'd done their job properly 360 and PS3 would have been released much closer to one another, people commonly say that PS3 was late but the fact is 360 was premature.

Microsoft got the jump on Sony they wanted but as a result released probably the most unreliable piece of hardware in history.

The PS3 got delayed a couple of times aswell mind. The thing about bluray is, HOW many games actully are full bluray games?

NOT MANY! if at all ANY. MGS4 is the only game that uses the full BLURAY DISK (a lot of movies). So in all fairness the PS3 maybe futureproved its self so once the XBOX720 (or whatever it will be called) has bluray. Sony will not need to make another one.

In my opinion the PS3 is an future investment. I might be wrong. or correct me if i am wrong but that is my view.

There is nothing wrong with the XBOX360, but game developers could do so much more if they could use the whole potential of the bluray disk, but they can't as they do not want 2 versions of games. One for Xbox and one for PS3.

Not always. How long did it take Sony to rip off the Xbox Achievements?

Achievements are the best thing that MS could have done. It's a chance for people to show how good they are (or how much of a nerd they are) and it lengthens your playtime on a game massively as you'll want to do everything for the 1000 points.

The reliability has nothing to do with the architecture of the console, just in the solder joints used and the heat sink attachment method which are easy to solve. It's a shame MS doesn't just change this design as it would mean admitting to the fault and there would be even more lawsuits.

Did you even do a google search to make sure your facts are straight?

simple business

The 360 was rushed to make the market 1st, loads of people, (Inc Me) bought whichever console hit the market 1st.

Microsoft even knew their machine would have problems but they wanted to be the first out anyway. I hope they learn their mistake next time round. I might even keep their next system if it doesn't break down every 6 months.

I think MS will have to bring out the most solid piece of console enginering next time around to gain the confidence, or atthe most to get the kind of sales numbers they realistically want.

Ill be very surprised if they havent already finalised the specs at least and potentially the design ethos and styling...

Its probably all the coding and features that take time to shape and test...

ps3ud0

Being first to market is usually seen as a strength, not a weakness. Sure, it didn't work for the Dreamcast, but the Xbox had how many months of no competition to rack up sales and instill consumer loyalty?

It helps that it's a very well designed console with good game support, and more of a focus on games than the PS3, which practically seems to want to wash the dishes these days :D

It justs seems theres such as long period of time when they have the final specs sorted to when they release the consoles to the public. In that time(6 Months-1 year?) technology would have inproved a lot and they could have made it better, but really you could say that with anything!!
