I have lots of experience with Parceline/DPD for deliveries in and out and in my opinion they are an excellent courier company.

Some of the couriers are owner drivers and I find these guys to be more flexible and reliable as well. I'm sure they get paid per drop.

Give them a chance, you might be pleasantly surprised. :)

Don't get the whole depot issue. I've been to a depot once through complete fault of my own incompetence and not wanting to wait for a redelivery.

If you can't order something online and then manage to be home within 3 delivery attempts then really, you probably have other problems :D And surely wouldn't work accept your parcel if necessary?

I think it's a huge problem for a massive amount of people. Why would you want to waste a days Anual leave you might have.

and £5-10 on petrol + 2hours of your life picking it up from a depot in a distant city.

Hmm Kings X depot is nice, beats having to travel into Nowheresville up by Wembley to pickup my stuff when attempted delivery in NE London!

Plymouth depot seems a bit of a glaring omission, 15th biggest City in the UK, 11th biggest University yet have to travel either 40 mins each way to Exeter or 1hr+ to St Austell. Sucks to be Plymouthian. Well actually, it sucks to be Plymouthian enough without having no depot on top, lol :p

There is a 3 day window where you can specify a specific hour, What the **** is everybody talking about depots for

To all the people who complain about not being at home before 6pm, why don't you just put your work address down as the delivery address?

Because if it's a bulky item I don't want to carry it home on the train/tube, also plenty of places don't like deliveries to work.

Ive never had a problem with DHL or Citylink.

Both local depots are 20 mins from me, these are the other hand, the two closest ones are both 40 min away. Though if I do order something lets hope their service is exaclty like Spie says. :)

Supposedly DHL tried to deliver my last order at 8:30 PM on Friday (yes you read that time right). The address was an office, closed. I'd tried the "deliver to work address" bit to get round the nobody at home during the day problem. Events consipired against me on that one since somehow DHL Next Day become DHL @ Home. The issue though is that there was no card or other advice from DHL as to what was happening. That is poor and one wonders if they even tried to deliver, or just realised it was an office and gave up as a bad job.

Whilst overclockers will acept addresses for delivery other than the registered credit card address, a local depot isn't essential. On first order though I believe a security measure does require delivery to the registered adddress, so for new customers, when many are consumers and hopefuly gainfully employed, depots might just be an issue. Indeed the only time I've had to go to a depot, is when a web company will not accept an alternative address.

As to the overal reliability of a courier, only time can tell if OcUK have chosen well. I'll give the benefit of the doubt. All I want is a courier to do what they say on the tin, i.e get it there on time and in one piece.
