Police brutality backfires!

I think someone should show that clip to some of the local British plods and ask them if they think the behaviour of the Portuguese police is entirely warranted.

I don't think you'd hear many claiming that it was a "standard tactic".

The guy was clearly resisting the attempts of the police to restrain him and so they had every right to use force, its up to them how much they use cause its there lives they put at risk everyday

Excellent, another knee jerk reaction, mob mentality thread... and I'm not talking about the movie clip or persons therein.

The fans reacted the right way IMO. He was pinned, on the ground, and immobile, yet the police felt the need to hit him.

Portuguese police seem to be pretty pathetic. First the Madeleine incident, now this.

About as cool as a kick in the head.

i already apologized for the comment i originaly made but memories of an innocent teenager shot dead in this country are still fresh :(

it isnt nice but seeing the officer being kicked in the face but it isnt nice to see them hitting someone in the face for no reason.

the fact a cop got caught out using excessive force was a good thing

So a cop hits someone with a baton a few times, and in return has a thousand football fans kicking him all over. You can see when there is a gap in the crowd that the policeman is motionless - unconscious.

How is that a good thing? Granted it can be argued that he used excessive force, but I can't understand how some people think that the retaliation was fair, just and cool.
:(

I'm not an advocate of violence, but I'm not surprised that the fans reacted the way they did.

The police are cowards. They don't mind using roughhouse tactics when it's 4 on 1 and the guy is restrained. It's nice to see the tables turned.

Stupid Police to do it in front of that many fans.

should have just had a few more men to come over and help deal with him, if he was resisting although it didn't look like it to me.

Karma is a funny thing.
