**EMPIRE TOTAL WAR**

I am impressed with the changes in the gameplay and campaign mechanics.

Likewise, I like some of the new ideas in Empire. I have also been fortunate with the bugs and crashes because so far I havent had a single crash (either pre-patch or post-patch) and the game is running nice and smoothly for me without hitches or pauses. The only thing that is still bugging me is not being able to restrict my camera on the battlefield so that I cant move it wherever I want.

Any news on any upcoming patches yet?

shaggy, the patch was released last night via steam, so if you played yesterday you were probably using the new version.

Unfortunately for me, before the patch my game was running stable and smooth. Now it seems the changes they have made have introduced a graphical glitch, longer load times and a stuttery campaign map.

Anyone out there running this on a Xonar DX sound card? I had problems with the demo getting it to run with 5.1 surround sound, and don't want to shell out if this is still a problem with the game.

Otherwise, I'm all set to go get it.....

I thought the AI were poor last night when attacking me in a fort.

I had two or three units of cavalry one of artillery and two Units of soldiers (260) in total.
The enemy had 860 units of all sorts.
I sacrificed my cavalry by taking out their Artillery from the start and let my artillery hit what it could.
My two remaining units I put on the walls, within a few minuets the AI were at the walls but made no attempt to climb the walls they just stood there taking shots.
I held out for an hour and got the victory.

At the end in the stats it said I'd killed over a thousand AI but they only deployed 860.

Does anyone know of any articles on the government/politics aspect of the game? I've pretty much ignored it as it doesn't seem to effect things?

Great thanks mate. I did not play it at all yesterday (I think) so i had better fire it up.

Anyone playing this on a 8800gtx or gt if yes how does it run?
Also which is better buying this game from steam or physical copy?

I'm using the 8800 gts 320mb (e6550 cpu & 4 Gb RAM) and the game runs well at 1680x1050 resolution, the only problems I have are larger battles with the weather effects and lots of smoke though I haven't played about with the graphics details yet.

Just buy the physical copy since it's cheaper than Steam, although you'll need Steam anyway to install the game.

I am really enjoying this game and it seems to be mostly bug free for me (though I haven't played it since installing the new patch!). The only two issues I get are that the game seems to slow down after a couple of hours play, and when I attack ships that are trading in the carribean they get stuck in the same trading spot the enemy fleet was occupying and I can't attack.

It is quite easy on most of the difficulty modes too, but still lots of fun.

C2D @ 3.6Ghz \ 4Gb + 8800 GTS 512 - runs sweet. Campaign map seems slightly sluggish, other than that battles are good.

Almost every setting is at ultra iirc. No AA. 1280 * 1024.

I am running this with 8800GTX at 1900x1200 and runs fine with occasional few jitters in the campaign map mode.

Just bought this (hardcopy in a store) earlier in the day, and just after installing steam, when it tries to update, the update window says: 'Cannot contact the Steam network. Try again later.'

OK, this was a few hours ago, and still no luck.

So cleared Steam from the system and got out my old copy of Portal. There, the Steam installation works OK.

The Steam website is also available.

If I don't get this running before tonight, it's going straight back to the shop.

Anyone have any ideas?

I also bought a hardcopy a few hours ago still deciding whether or not i should rip the plastic cover off and install it or take it back and a refund such a difficult choice.I bought it hoping its gonna be another totalwar masterpiece but judging by some of bugs/glitches said about on the total war forum i dunno.

 I'm running things at medium and high at 1680x1050, with none of the checkboxes ticked and still get quite a lot of slowdown. I'm on an 8800gtx as well.

I'm running at 1080p with a 8800 something or other and it's running sweet at best graphics with AA.
