Arsenal fan stabbed in Rome

Unfortunately not hugely surprised. Italian hooliganism is ridiculous. I'm sure this will get spun against the english fans though, like the riot-esque scenes in the Roma stadium against Man U two seasons ago. England seem to be the scapegoat for Fifa.

Has this happened to every English team who has played away to Roma recently.

I know it has happened to Man Utd and Boro Fans. Now Arsenal. And to think this is the stadium (Which is a craphole as it is) that is playing host to the final this year.

It's about time Roma (and probably all Italian sides) are banned from Europe

Because of a minority of fans? Hardly fair.

It's like banning alcohol because some people get drunk and disorderly.

By the way, they are only analogous by principle not severity.

Minority of fans and because of the incapable ****s running the club. Whenever Roma play in Europe there's a good chance that there will be trouble and nothing is being done about it.

We only hear about what happens when it involves English sides (and it's no coincidence that 4 of the last 5 English sides to play Roma have had fans stabbed (possibly 5 out of 5, not sure if Chelsea had any problems)) but this has been happening consistently for the last 10 or so years. When there was trouble during the Utd games the other season, Glenn Hoddle mentioned that he'd just watched a Roma League match and it was no different and that he was actually feared for his own safety.

Untill Roma learn how to control their fans and Police/stewards, they shouldn't be able to host any football matches let alone European matches imo.

Not a surprise at all unfortunately and I think they have to lose the CL Final after this, as they need to be taught a lesson.

I hope the geezer is alright.

Hope it gets brought further. Had it been an English club we'd all be out of Europe next season and facing another couple of years in the wilderness.

Minority of fans or not, you're talking serious (and I mean, serious!) acts of violence that threaten peoples lives. It only takes 1 person to ruin something, so of course something needs doing.

I agree with Baz and have said it for years, Roma NEED banning from Europe, every time there is a match there people get stabbed, it's ridiculous, but because they are Italian they get away with stuff (violence, fighting, knife violence, match fixing and crowd trouble, and those are just in the last 3 years alone).

If it were Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea doing that we would be banned without doubt. Let us not forget that because of the Heysel incident with Liverpool it was ALL English clubs that got banned from Europe and that was for YEARS. A one off incident of freak occurance. Now every year fans get stabbed in Rome as part of football gang culture, but nothing is done, worse they decide to host the final there.

But then again, common sense isn't a part of the football seniority's strong point either, they're hosting the World Cup in South Africa!

Dunno how accurate it is, but someone on the CFC forum is saying 2 Chelsea fans were slashed with knives after the Juventus game on Tuesday and another saying they had knives flashed at them through the plastic divides.

The FA need to grow some balls and start threatening UEFA with pulling out of European football but I bet Blatter would love that idea, its every year we hear about this.

Its going to take something really bad to happen before anything changes with the Italians.

Imagine a Liverpool vs Man United final? :(

Such a shame that you cant enjoy football in these places without worrying about safety. Especially considering its a major European city.

They could unite and rip rome apart :D

I just think punishing a city and club for the actions of a minority is unfair.

Should Man U get banned from the PL because of their fans spitting and throwing objects at other fans as well as setting off fire alarms?

Were do you draw the line? Not rhetorical, I'm wondering where do you draw the line.

we got punished for the actions of a minority of fans after the Heysel incident. Fortunately there's been nothing of that magnitude since but you keep hearing about these incidents with Roma.
