Government intend new travel regulations

The more this goverment is in power the more I think George Orwell was right when he wrote the novel 1984.

Welcome to freedom.

Surely the terrorists won then? Since 2001 we've lost freedoms and privacy.

At least all those people living in Iraq and Afganistan can have more freedom from the baddies though eh?

I always thought the Police and Goverment should work harder to protect us - Rather than eroding personal privacy etc.

Am I missing something?

The amount of drivel coming from the government seems to have gone through the roof. I can only assume this is to keep people minds off the economy.

They're probably preparing for a "Holiday Tax", whereby they tax you depending on a) the nature of the flight - holiday/business and b) where you're going :p

Read the whole article and not once did they seem to mention a reason for this.

How can the government warrant such extreme plans on top of the new ID system in such a poor financial time?!

OMG people leaving and coming into the country have to give their passport details \o/ . What next? The inland revenue knowing how much we get paid? It's 1984 all over again!

So they want to your EXACT plans?

Day 1
Leave Manchester
Arive Ibiza
Unpack
Buy Food
Have Poo
Go Clubbing

Day 2
Be Sick
Go Clubbing

And so on...

how can they expect you to give them exact plans?

Or have i mis-interprited?

Its just typical of how this government is, lets not deal with the minority ie terrorists, chavs, etc etc, lets just make a scheme that punishes absolutely everybody and wastes loads of tax payers money at the same time, i dont think they know how to make a policy that doesnt work like this.

This is what annoys me a little, 99% of people who indignantly quotes 1984 or any of Orwell's literature has blatantly never read them. If Britain was remotely anything like Airstrip One, we wouldn't even be here. A couple of cameras here and there, and everyone's jumping up and down claiming to be slighted by the Party.

Give it a rest everyone, yes we are in a more tightly regulated and watched society more than ever, and I'll definitely be the first to express discontent with it but the parallels to anything Orwell is non-existent. If you really want to change anything, go and vote conservative.

It can't be denied that we aren't moving towards an orwellian state though can it?

Wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference voting conservative as both parites serve the same master(s).
