What is your favourite MMO?

I have tried a few recently only trials but I was wondering which ones you would highly recommend.

WOW: I played this for about a year and really enjoyed it until I reached level 60 when I found that I had to spend 4hours plus to do anything. Wasnt really tempted to go back when they upped it to 70 as I thought I would just get the same problems.

WAR: Just started a trial of this and first impressions are that it is very similar to WOW but seems to be quite easy. The problem I did have with it is that I didnt really need anyones help and no one offered any so I found myself doing everything on my own. Which sort of takes away the purpose of being an MMO in my eyes.

Does that change in later levels?

EVE: I played this for a few days and it really wasnt my thing. The combat was boring (point and click) and I even got bored of playing the free trial.

LOTRO: I have been having issues trying to actually download this trial. Still running as we speak. Kept getting to 5.1gb of 7.7 and failing and had to start again.

So what are your favourites and why?

World of Warcraft is my favorite.

My Pc isn't very good so haven't seen LOTRO with all the bells & whistles, but that was pretty good aswell.

EVE very good but different from anything out there.

WOW for me.

Its one of those games that can burn you out though, so during its existance I've taken 2 breaks from it. One for 6 months and the other for a year.

When i restarted I got new characters which seems to give the game a whole new lease of life. When I get bored I often level alts as a filler etc. Shame I've not got much time to level alts now due to working etc.

i've only really ever played 4 (through choice, though i think i played a trial of Anarchy online ages ago):

Planetside - my all time favourite, if only SOE hadn't ruined it and made everyone leave

City of Heroes - actually i quite enjoyed it for a while, though i got bored around lvl 30 or so, i never really found any group of people to play with so kind of got a bit stuck and so quit.

LOTRO - i'm actually enjoying this atm too, got a good kin through this forum and i'm experiencing my first real end game content. only been playing for around 2 months but it's good so far. i'm also quite glad that i picked it up after the Mines of Moria were released, if Angmar had been the last zone i would have quit by now!

Age of Conan - i played this pretty much up to lvl 70, though most of the OCuK guild went to WAR when it came out so i left too. the first few levels were really good but i think they forgot about the rest, it was pretty good whilst it lasted though and might go back to it at some point.

What server are you on for LOTRO?

I have only heard bad things about AOC on here. I think yours is the first possitive remark ive read.

I spent 2 years on Guild Wars, and about 8-9 months on WoW.

Loved both of them and I regret quitting now, but they became too much of a timesink.

Eve online for me. I've played it since March 2004 and had a few breaks in that time but it always drags me back somehow. Impressive stuff when you think about it. There aren't many titles out there that can do that. I used to play BF1942 when it was released and played for a few years then stopped. I haven't gone back since I stopped. Eve just keeps reeling my in :).

Snowbourne is the server i play on - with the United Kingdoms Kin. it really annoyed me all the stuff that went on about AoC, granted they didn't get it all right but jeez, half the people who were annoyed were expecting the most amazing thing ever in the whole wide world (which is the same that happens in pretty much every other major release).

give them some time to sort out the end game, itemisation and some other bits and pieces and it will be ok i reckon, it certainly kept me occupied for a few weeks. if you try it, don't be seduced by the first 20 levels or let it raise your expectations too much!

World of Warcraft

Played it for ages but got bored of it as I mostly enjoyed the questing in the game rather than PvP/raiding. PvP was okay just too much whining and using arena system rather than open world.

I've been waiting ages for a new game to grab me like WoW did but a lot of the games at the moment are just WoW-clones so I think I'm going to ditch fantasy MMO's and look at the sci-fi ones due for release.

Really enjoyed City of Heroes, but only with a group of mates.

Pre-TBC WoW was awesome. WotLK is a pile of crap and should be put down.

WAR is ok, but RvR needs a lot of fixing.

UO back in the day before AOS

What was UO like? I see so many people saying it was fantastic. Why though? And surely if it was that good why havent they done a newer version with the old system they had?

WoW is a very different game at L80 than it was at L60.

Didnt even know it went up to L80 I thought it was L70 lol

What is the difference then between L60 and L80 (other than 20 levels before someone says :P)

darkfall, apparently is like old school uo but newer graphics ect.
a good point why havent more games followed the skill based system?

hard to explain why it was so good, other then saying, when its 1v1, that rush you get when you do win (and so the spoils that come with that) is an experiance i havent had from any other morg...

thinking about it, even when you lose a 'match' the rush was still there, even if it cost you 100+ set of regs!

or say your in a dungen fighting balrons with a buddy, and a group of reds come along, that rush you get, and the quick recall to vesper bank feeling you get...

damn, this talk makes me want to play it again!

Lotro for me, love the game. loads of content, great stories and lots of fun :) Also there is an updating coming out in a few weeks which is going to change all the starting quests/areas to make it easier to get into the game for new players.

Eve is decent too, but its hard to get into.
