Hi there,

Just recieved my ati 4870 and was wondering which are the latest drivers? Where can I grab them, I am currently downloading ATI Catalyst 9.2 software suite for win vista 32 bit version, is that ok?

It has the HDMI connector and DP connector - whats this??

Also I had a svideo connector with my old gpu, I notice the 4870 doesnt have one, how can I connect it to my TV which has a SVIDEO connection on it??

Sure I know some of these questions are simple but I just didnt want to install drivers then reinstall them, so your help would be appreciated...

Cheers

9.2s are indeed the latest, at least until tomorrow when the 9.3s are released lol.

What outputs have your card got?

Does it not have the s-video plug between the two DVI ports?

You might be a little stuck there, I think S-Video has been dropped from most current ATI cards as its very rarely used. The HDMI dongle simply allows you to put out video and audio over HDMI using the onboard audio chip.
Unfortunately SD/S-Video is a legacy connection, so you may be a little stuck. Beyond low quality DiVX, S-Video is not really suitable for computer use anyway, and never has been, quality is simply appaling; however was provided as a compromise connector before true HD TVs became more widespread.
Display port is very similar to DVI/HDMI. Unfortunately only think you could do is get an adaptor, but that wouldn't be cheap.

OMG ....Nooooooooooooooooo, I have connected the PC upto the telly and rely on it when I am having movie nights in...

whats the adaptor called.....

thanks for your advice..

just played crysis for 1hr 30mins and the screen just screwed up and I had to press the reset button on pc...

whats going on?

this is a B grade 4870 I bought...

Is this bad?

Might have overheated? Also the RCA connector is for composite video. 9.2 Cats are slightly slower than 9.1s for some reason so maybe try rolling back a version.

EDIT: Just had a thought - what PSU you running?

I have a 500w antec modular psu...

I was monitoring temps whilst playing at they were at 45 - 50degrees - thats not high is it?

So the wire I posted above, I would obvisiously insert the svideo lead into the svideo connector but what would I insert into the RCA connector?

thanks
