Played a little bit this morning with my old x800, seemed to run fine on default settings.
Will let you know how I get on with the 4870 in there, for which Im frantically spamming the F5 key on the tracking page

A friend of mine plays it okay on an x700 so I wouldn't worry about an x800 too much

However for the time being, it will be a single core AMD 3500+.

Im running it on a 3700+, works fine, loading takes a little longer than other people though.

Do quad-cores enable a few more graphical things ? Im sure theres more rain now on my quad.

With a slow single core CPU you'll probably find playing online is easier on your pc than offline (less AI to deal with).

No I don't think so...

I can think of two possibilities:

- the increased FPS makes the rain look prettier / more detailed
- it automatically detected the extra cores and bumped up some detail settings, though I don't think this is possible in L4D as I said above

Awesome game tonight guys, was quite close throughout really, except the end

I found it very amusing when in the first level i knocked all 4 off the side, final I got Gord I was very pleased. It was odd that my computer lagged out when the rescue vehicle arrived, somehow still managed to get on it. Fluxuation of my home internet I suppose.

Good fun anyway though, well played all. I will be on again on friday.

Got through a full VS game without a single crash! \o/

Noticed a drop in FPS though, gone from an average of 70 to floating around the 40. Have just downloaded the 9.3 Catalyst for x64 and will give that a try.
