I hate it with a passion.

Just noticed the Far Cry 2 DLC on STEAM, it should be in the game from the start.

Three brand new weapons, which can be found in the armory:
  • Silenced Shotgun
  • Sawed-off shotgun
  • Crossbow
Two new vehicles, which can be found at various locations throughout the game in place of cars or other vehicles:
  • Unimog (big truck)
  • Quad
    • Five new Multiplayer maps:
      • Cheap Labor
      • Last Resort
      • Lake Smear
      • Fort Fury
      • Jungle Seizure
All the new weapons and vehicles will be available in Single-player and Multiplayer modes.

£3.99?

Dont they see that if they release deecent updates to games for FREE people are most likely to go out and purchase the FULL version rather than milking their allready paid customers with half baked content.

Before all these companies start slating the PC platform I just wish they took the time to understand how it worked rather than trying to FORCE its Consolian ways upon us, it dont work.

Grrrrrrr.

Rant over.

Well they would have to find someone who liked Far Cry 2 enough to want to spend another penny on it first, which isn't going to happen, so don't worry.

Yeah I would have to agree. Unlike left4dead they are going to release extra content for this game for free which will increase sales further. As well as it being a fun game in my opinion.

Then you have farcry 2. Which is not a very good game and they want to charge for it? Its certainly not going to attract new buyers as they would have to buy the extra content. I dont think that will happen some how.

As someone who did really enjoy Far Cry 2, I wouldn't pay for that DLC. It just adds nothing to the game really.

It's not really designed to drive more game sales, it's designed to make money from what is essentially nothing, content that was made during the games development or that took very little time and money to create. The profit from simple DLC like such as this is immense and even if a small amount of people buy it they will make a killing.

The game didn't really miss the few guns and vehicles you get, so it's not like you are missing out on anything by not having it. It's not an expansion or major content adding DLC like the GTA4 DLC or similar, it's just a small pack like LBP costumes, or perhaps the CoD4 map pack. But there will be some people out there for whom this will be a must buy and it's these people that DLC like this is targeted at. It might be annoying, but it makes good business sense. And of course just like any business, any money you can get is good money, especially if it requires little to no extra outlay.

So yea, sadly PC DLC is here to stay.

I dont disagree that DLC is here to stay but I cant see Farcry 2 getting much if any business from it. You would have to brain dead to pay for it for this game.

I wouldn't mind if they had fixed the game-breaking bugs (I'm stuck on 88% like many others, months later and still no patch for it).
Even if this content was free, it'd still be an absolute disgrace that it something as fundamental as that hasn't been fixed in favour of generic enhancements.

Just because many people here didn't like it, including me and you, doesn't mean a lot of others out there didn't like it. It's sold over a million copies on PC.

Yea, it's crap. We know that. But lots of people like it. Sad but true!

DLC isn't going to work on the PC as PC gamers are used to getting free updates, that is something that would be difficult to change. It's like trying to charge a subscription to play games online (Xbox Live), PC users have never done this so it wouldn't work.

Had to come sooner or later :(
I plan on avoiding any game that leads to payable extra content. But having said that if EA put an 8 map pack up for BF2 I'd get my coin out in a flash :p

Makes you wonder when the first game will come out when you can only fight with bare hands or pistol until you upgrade and purchase guns with real $$$... hell, why not charge for ammo, too!

Not sure I agree with the above. I think that different pricing structures are already working on the PC, and I think that paying extra for DLC content is going to be the future on ALL formats where the online connection isintegral to the platform.

It would be interested to know the sales numbers from DLC, but I know it can be difficult to find.

Personally as someone who bought FC2 on 360 for cheap I haven't/wouldn't be tempted to buy this. However I did buy the COD4 MP maps.

Wonder how well dlc will go down with the pc version of burnout paradise. Approx £25(psn price) just for a few extra cars to drive around in that dont add to the game in any way. I refuse to pay that ammount on the ps3 as the full game (ultimate) only cost £30.

That's ridiculous - compare those few addons to what Epic put into the UT3 Titan pack for free.

The whole thing behind the Titan pack did seem to be to entice new players to buy UT3 (the free weekends, money off if purchased via Steam etc) as opposed to something that they were giving to long time players (if there were any left). They did it knowing that it would generate money from sales of the base game (and I don't blame them, they're a business).

I don't think for a second though that if UT3 had been the biggest multiplayer fps on the planet that the Titan pack would have been free.

To be fair to Epic though, they do have a history of issuing extra content for free, e.g. UT Bonus Packs, UT2004 Mega Pack etc.

It really depends on the game and the content, for example I'll happily pay for extra content such as The Shivering Isles for Oblivion but not the Horse [Insert word beginning with S here] Armour. Publishers are chancing their arm to see if we'll pay. As said before, it's easy money for them.
