ok, seriously, what in gods name have they done to live messenger? The new version is so badly designed that I'm almost angry. Who could possibly think this GUI is better than the old one, it's absolutely horrible to use. Someone needs to be sacked.

What do you think?

ps, i have rolled back to 8.5 and won't budge until they sort it out.

I pretty much got used to it now. Only thing I really miss is dragging files into windows to send them.

I'm on 8.5 atm too, rolled back after a format forced the 9 install. Was on 8.1 before that so I have updated a little :)

How do you get rid of the "update me now" prompts btw?

No, they won't force you.

Not sure why you like it  In aesthetic terms it's all over the place. But then, some people buy those bling plastic cases with 72 lights on, and chrome...

and i also don't know a way to stop that weekly reminder to update. Very annoying.

I like it. Perhaps not quite as nice (in terms of raw look) as some previous versions, but it still looks good and it's by far the least-bloated and confusing version in years. The fact that the patches to remove all the adverts and extra junk now have far fewer options is proof of that alone. No idea why there's so much fuss about it, it's easily the cleanest, least-cluttered version since it adopted the Windows Live name.

I've just used A-Patch to strip it down of all the adverts ect and then I've just gone into options and changed the layout settings from with in WLM 9. Since I've done that I've been pretty happy with it, I can't stand the default GUI layout though.

i cant stand it myself, havent figured out how to view contacts by there email address yet.! very annoying when people constantly change there display name and takes you forever to look for them just to find them not online lol

Give them a nickname, then it doesn't matter what they call themselves.

As said, only thing I don't like is that when you drag drop pictures you start "photo sharing", not sending the photo.

I like this feature, if the person wants the photo all they need to do is click on the save button that is displayed with the photo while sharing :D
