Subaru Impreza - Owners / knowledgeable chaps etc

Like I say, you will really want the lowering springs though, as otherwise, despite the huge grip and huge cornering speeds, the angle the car will take them will scare you until you're used to it. When lowered, there is a LOT less roll and you just feel so much more confident to push !

You're better off replacing the rear ARB with a better one - the Whiteline 22mm is the usual choice. Dials out some of the understeer at the same time.

A full set of Defis will should be about £800 including fitting - the exact price will depend on gauge model.

They are pretty much identical to the heater controls in my 350z.

Anyway, back on topic... I think I could only buy a Subaru in blue or black with the hawkeye :)

I had one for a while, loved it. Best thing about it is the modding potential is huge. Mine ended up at 400 bhp and 480lbs ft torque and was a hoot. Running costs though are high as you've found out, if your really pushing things you'll be very lucky to see 20 mpg. However some real bargains to be had out there in the current climate if you can find a good un..

Last pimp of mine for old times sake ;)

I just bought myself an Impreza last week its an old UK 99MY with some sensible mods nothing body work wise thankfully as I hate tacky looking cars. Its just a toy to mess around with at weekends.

I have never been an Impreza fan, thats until I drove this one, totally love it, it sounds immense and pulls really hard in every gear. Now my usual OCD with new toys has kicked in, over the weekend I've already ordered a huge turbo, coil over suspension, new exhaust headers and I'm currently looking into a fully balanced steel con rod, forged piston bottom end.

I can see this becoming expensive but it'll be worth it for the odd track day and weekend blast. :)

Nice one, you wont regret buying an Impreza if you dont mind the fuel costs.

These cars really do deliver in every way :)

So you're 21 and will be paying £1300ish ? Urm.. how? What insurance company is that with? Are you the policy holder or just a named driver? NCB?
Sorry just shocked with that price! Fair play though

Worth checking out some of the specialists might be very competitive if you list your previous cars too. Cant wait to see what you get Sam but I definitely need a passenger ride, please dont kill me! :D

Ive not really got much to add from what everyone else has said. Sneaky, yours was probably one of my favourites from scoobynet....I wish I was in a position to buy when you were selling!!
Heres one of my old one, a bugeye so not to everyones tastes, but I still loved it! It was an STI Type UK Prodrive Edition PPP. Upgrades included the Prodrive PPF7 wheels, black/blue mica paint (only 100 made), Prodrive/Eibach lowering springs, full miltek exhaust with sportscat, Whiteline ARB and uprated droplinks, Defi centre pod gauges (best mod ever!). If you get one, get the exhaust sorted first, they sound  If you could get past the bugeye look, they are seriously cheap now. Only 2 pics I have at the moment.

What turbo have you ordered and where will you get the work done? If I have anything major needed for mine even though its a long trek I would use API. I bought my car from there and its only distance that stops me using them for servicing.

I'll be fitting all the parts myself and getting Andy Forrest to re-map it due to living in Scotland. Your bang on recommending API though, Spoke to David today about a full race engine and the guy is a fountain of knowledge. I will definately be ordering an engine from him at some point.
