***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

from when i had a bit of a go last night it is more difficult. the thing to watch out for is hunters as you cant just bat them away as before. even though the cooldown period is pretty quick if its mis timed the you are screwed


Sounds like a good update to me. It will make attacking as a hunter more tactical. Wait for them to bash away...ooo they look tired.....time for a snack...nom nom!

Now if they make it so you can not occupy the same space then that would make it super hard lol
 
Just had a couple of games, I think the melee changes are awesome. Feels much less lame playing versus without seeing 4 people hop from closet to closet, which still kind of works but just nowhere near as effectively.

Loving the epic whines about it on steampowered forums though <3

Why would they whine? I think this is a great update. It was very unsporting when people all jumped into the corner and turned on melee power to beat off three hundred zombies. This will make it interesting.

Personally I love it when they improve the infected as it makes it more challenging escaping rather than everyone getting out with virtually full health and a pack to spare.

I wish they would make the witch tougher though, she is perfectic at times.
 
one change they should make..

-reduced damage to special infected on melee

currently if there are 4 survivors in a corner, and a hunter pounces, a few melees and he's dead, it feels unfair when you're a survivor and you get a kill this way
 
Yeh I thought about that too bledd, if the melee did only 1 dmg per hit to a special infected and dazed them, then survivors would be forced to shoot them (or hit them 250 times). Then again as a survivor it is quite funny to melee a human special infected to death :D
 
Tank seems to have got weaker with the update, which is a shame as he was about perfect before.

Still think the boomer needs a damned good update, vomiting while walking is needed for sure.

Yeah i think the hunter does need to be able to take more than 3 meeles. He can take 15 bullets from the pistol when he's incapped someone, but can only take 3 elbows. He wouldn't make much of a ultimate fighter would he :(

If you are talking about the patch before, since Tanks can cleave etc, I'd say it's actually made them a lot more deadly!

I had a game as soon as Dave updated the servers yesterday evening (legend). Basically on the whole melee fatigue is a genius concept and really works.

If you are a good player and genuinely think where you are meleeing and don't spam it, it doesn't make that much difference. You can still have a few quick swiped to knock stuff back and be absolutley fine.

Things I have noticed it will make a lot of difference to:

- Closet whores
- People who relied on melee too much and not enough shoot/accuracy.
- Single people boomered out on their own (watched some guy fatigue last night and lost loads of HP because team wasn't near him).
- Spamming melee when people hear hunters!

Other than that if you are controlled in what you do it's not too bad. Nothing to whine about for sure!

Yeah, sorry for not replying to steam messages last night - girlfriend + arguments ftl :/

I was actually a bit annoyed after the update came ~10pm that no servers were updated in the whole of steam (obviouslly).

I even started the old jokes of "wtf is Dave doing, it's been a whole 20minutes and my free service and support is really lacking!!!"

Asked UV and he said speak to Dave/Frenchtart, which I did :) Everything ok with the MRS now mate?
 
Epic bum fail, just spilt coolant on the back of my GTX280, which is now screwed, so I am confined to the lappy for now.....Left4Dead looks like total carp and gives me a barely playable frame rate @ 1280x800. Poo.
