anyone going to next weeks protests?

More4 are showing a documentary soon titled 'Who Killed the Electric Car?' or something similar. Might be worth a watch.

Pretty much everything C4 related to climate change has involved firgures arguing against fossil fuels adding to climate change, but who they don't declare as being related to fossil fuel industries. Also, several prominent scientists have complained of being edited and/or misquoted by their programs which are unbelievably one sided.

Ta. Never thought of it like that.

It's not the worst in terms of causing warming though. Methane for example is roughly 14 times worse than CO2 despite only contributing 4-9% opposed to CO2's 9-26%.

Try not to listen to 'experts' on here as there's a lot of misinformation and bias flying around. Do yourself a favour and read the IPCC 4AR summary and the lovely guide NewScientist provide. You'll be able to come to your own conclusion.

If C4 are so against FF then why did they produce The Great Global Warming Swindle which was full of misinformation and effectively said that GW was a load of rubbish and not to worry?

C4 just love to **** stir.

because he said C4 were arguing AGAINST FF's ADDING to climate change. IE they were arguing against the idea that FF's were to blame.

C4 haven't made any good programming in a decade though.

Look at the forrest fires that blaze up pretty often, adding huge amounts of co2 to the atmosphere, as has been happening for millenia and millenia, its fairly natural to burn up our resources. Likewise volcanoes spew crap up, and even natural gas pockets can and will eventually reach critical pressure and explode weak points in rock venting gas. This is all fairly normal.

Meh, anyway the protests are ridiculous. People don't like change, car union's shouldn't be fighting for jobs, why, because we simply don't need that many cars. There are millions upon millions of unsellable cars sitting around killing the industry, saving jobs by subsidising companys to continue to waste natural resources building cars people don't need so people can keep jobs that aren't required is beyond moronic. Life is change, we need to face up to the fact that we can't constantly create "fake" public sector tax paid jobs indefinately to cover all the jobs that are essentially becoming exstinct, we need to change the way we live as a society. Theres just quite literally not enough work for 60 million people in the uk to do 9-5 every day of the year, theres not even close to enough, we've been "generating" extra paperwork and useless office jobs for years paid out of tax to "cover" all the jobs we've lost elsewhere, but those jobs aren't ever coming back.

climate change, is BS, keeping needless jobs subsidised by tax payers money, will eventually fail, constantly creating new useless jobs that aren't needed also paid by tax, will eventually fail. Protesting to keep things as they were is for the moronic people of the world with no idea how it really works, or what needs to change.

I would protest if we did protests like the french still do now there are a populus that get results. The last time britain had a successful protest was er... Its just not british.

Day off on Wed, jsut hopign that nothing kicks off in Canary Wharf. Everyone will be dressed down, so they shall just attack everyone :p

Right, so scientists possibly finding a way to store hydrogen safely is somehow proof of a government conspiracy to force us to keep using fossil fuels?

Right...

Producing enough hydrogen for the demand of millions of vehicals would use an unfathomeable amount of energy. Hydrogen is not the "easy answer" that people make it out ot be.

The most efficient way to produce it is breaking it down from hydrocarbons! Definitely not "clean".

Well I will be in the city all day Wednesday dressed like a target no doubt, don't give a stuff to be honest as I will go from cab to office to cab to office and if it looks nasty I will pay more and ask that the driver runs some poor people over. :D

That article was written in 2006. Can you show me anything which states that the isps were in fact forced to implement it when the end of 2007 came?

Being a network architect for an ISP, I can confirm that they never went anywhere with their ridiculous threats to those who didn't implement it. It's not implemented currently and won't be within the next few years. A few ISPs (Zen being the most visible of them) did a decent job of pointing out how utterly stupid cleanfeed is.

2) it's expensive, small ISPs have no chance of implementing it on those grounds alone and the government isn't keen to pay.

1) it doesn't work - any of dozens of anonymous browsing sites will bypass the filters. Hell, it used to be that even google translate would bypass it. They claim is prevents 'casual access' and choose to disregard that it does nothing to prevent mildly determined people (who you'd assume the sort of people who want to look at this sort of stuff are).

That's without getting onto the random, unofficial, non government body compiling the filtering lists. The IWF are a truly idiotic organization.

...and just how much CO2 is being pumped into the atmosphere by these bloody hippys as they all make their way to London. Now considering that quite a few are coming here from all over the World I'm hazarding a guess that they aren't arriving here on the backs of giant swans.
