My tattoo edges closer to completion

I do keep fit (play for two football teams and usually a gym visit a week), but my exercise is mainly cardio - hit 19 minutes for 4.3 miles the other day. I do some weights too, but not all that many. It shouldn't be an issue, as I'm certainly not going to start with protein shakes or anything like that.

Why do you have to wait until July to finish it?

Having an unfinished tattoo for that long would bug me.

A combination of time for the freshly tattooed skin to heal and probably appointment availability.

I want a very specific guy to do my next tattoo and I'm going to have to wait a couple of months just for a consultation date!

They will fade slightly over the first 3/4 weeks as the skin heals, but then there'll stay pretty much constant for quite a few years. Fading will depend on level of sun exposure/abrasion and standard of the ink. If it's too much, you just book in for a touch up X years down the line.

I'm certainly not going to start with protein shakes or anything like that.

Whatever you do don't start on the protein shakes. I knew a guy who looked like you, he tried a sip of a protein shake and POW his arms are ripping out of XL shirts now.
I'm not really a fan of the tattoo if I'm honest, but if you like it then great :)

Got another 3 hour session to finish off more of the flesh rips and the bit that's currently only line work in July. Looking forward to it, but the inside of your arm hurts like hell compared to the outside.

Is there a reason you have to wait so long in between sessions? If you know its gonna take 3 sessions, could you not book them around the same time, or do you have to wait for whatever reason?

I'll be interested to see the finished thing :)

You have to wait for the rest to heal, I can't stand to be tattooed anymore than 2 hours as it hurts. Most tattooists split the job up, especial when its big

I like your wallpaper, it looks like my carpet.

December I had around 5 hours, yesterday around 4-5 and July is 3. The outside you could sit with forever, because it doesn't hurt, but the inside of your arm, especially close the the inside of your elbow, will make you wince a little.

Does it really take from December until now, and from now until July to heal? Or does the amount of time that it takes make it difficult to find a slot?

Yeah, I'm pleased with the orange and the layering effect. It's by Gerry Carnelly at Octopus Tattoo in Derby.

Proper healing from the December session took 3-4 weeks and I was moisturising twice daily and latterly daily during that time.

So it's partly that and partly that Gerry is consistently booked 3 months in advance.

Idea conception: May 2008
Completion: July 2009

So it's well over a year from the first seeds of the idea until the final version will be completed.

Thanks again for all the kind words :)

You what? Line work hurts so much more!
