ATI Radeon HD 4890 1024MB - Price Drop!

not too bad for a price trim, still cant justify the large price hike from the 4870, still poor bang for buck, price will be nice in 2months im sure tho.

Argh, I recently justified not getting one of these because I couldn't get one for under £200 - stay out of my head ocuk! :p

It is a shame that that XFX 260 dropped at the same time. I would be the proud owner of one otherwise :p

Is it just me or does it look broken on the this week listing, showing only product details of that card :p

Am def interested at that price....much of a boost over a 4850 at 1680x1050?

OcUK are getting especially competitive with these new cards eh? :D

PRICE WARRRRRRRRSSSSS

Price wars make the gaming world go around :D

this should put Nvidia to shame, you can get the 4890 in Crossfire for £390 which less then a GTX 295 yet the Crossfire set-up beats the 295 around 9/10 times.

ATI F.T.W!!!!

Can't wait for the 40nm performance card

Even better then that...

PowerColor's water cooled HD 4890 comes soon

In retail from April 16th

We already wrote that PowerColor is working on a non-reference water cooled HD 4890 as a part of its LCS series, and a week later PowerColor decided to officially announce this water cooled card. PowerColor can now relax, as this is the first and thus far only water cooled HD 4890 that we are aware of, and as far as we could find out, this could easily remain the only one.

The card will end up clocked at 900MHz for the GPU and 1000MHz for 1GB of GDDR5 memory. Of course these clocks are what PowerColor suggests but the card should be able to hit higher clocks if you pair it up with a high performance water cooling kit. The water block comes from EK, and according to PowerColor it should make sure that the GPU has up to 20°C lower temperatures.

The card will, of course, be a quite limited series, and it will no doubt be expensive, but it should also be a fastest HD 4890 on the market as water cooling should provide enough power for this card to go over the magical 1000MHz mark for the GPU clock.

The card should hit retail on April 16th with a suggested price tag of US $339. This is quite a premium, considering that a reference HD 4890 card sell for US $249.99 at Newegg.com, but then again you get the only single slot HD 4890 with a high quality water block.

Because I'm always trying to find the best performing parts for my machine.

By buying mid-high end cards?

You could have just bought a 295GTX and had the fastest card out. Or a 4870X2 if you were being a little more sensible. They'd cost you the same overall as changing GPU every month =\

I had a 4870X2. I sold it because I didn't need the power.

So far this month I've changed my GPU twice it has cost me £10 :)
