This is a video of a mugging that occured on a French bus. I was reading a lot of comments on the site, with a lot of them saying...

"Why didn't anybody do anything to help"

It's ok to say that sitting behind your monitors, but what really happens with a group of people, everybody will wait for everyone else to make a move. When their is a group of people you all have a smaller responsibility to help and so most of the time nobody does help.

I'm not great at explaning all of this but it sure brings back memories from when I used to do psychology, group behaviour etc. I bet most people on here would stay sitting and pretend nothing is happening as well. Especially when it's four on one.

Isn't that on a bus, rather than train?

I watched this the other day and I was pretty disgusted that nobody helped. If I saw someone taking such a beating for such a long time, I would try and help out and get some other people to as well. There was only one guy who tried to help by tripping up one of the thugs, and he got two punches to the face for it.
 
If that were to occur over here, you also have to factor in the fact that if you do intervene and in the process of doing so hurt the scum you will no doubt be held on charges and they'll probably be given legal aid to sue you.

That was the guy who got picked on in the first place i tihink. Whenever i am on a bus i am usually with friends and we would almost definitley have been preppared to go face to face with them to help out. However on my own with just a bunch of randomers iwouldn't just go diving in on my own.
 
I don't understand any of it. It's difficult to see what's happening but one guy gets smacked in the face twice and doesn't even retaliate.

I'm sorry, but if I'd seen what was happening from the start I'd be straight in there, especially if there was someone present that knew me. That little **** with the hoodie on would have had a right kicking, but I'd have gone for the big one first, sat on the left at the start.
 
Yeah the 'bystander effect'.. Paris is pretty bad for it, sisters had her purse stolen on a bus and the metro system is notorious for it at night.

You get two punches to the face for trying to help. Unless your the brave type and prepared to risk a bruising or even worse nowadays, I think 90% of people would look on from a distance.

The guy with the white hoodie is such a coward. He can't even throw punches when all of his boys are backing him up.

That was the guy who tripped up one of the thugs when he got on. If someone hit me like that I would have dropped the stuff in my hands to retaliate.
 
very sad and unfreindly but can understand your POV a lot will say zomg I will pwnz him!!

a lot would sit still I bet...well its evident in that film...that guy who tripped him up was lolz but got punched in the face twice for it :(

4 vs 1 not fair imo and not worth the hassle unless you can get the group to join up which is doubtful!

Fight or Flight syndrome..

But now for any MMA fans..I thought that black dude that walked away looked like cheick kongo...:p

dont even know where that rumour started because in all the cases i know the police have completley brushed it under the carpet

this includes a mate who seen some guy get bottled and then pushed the bottler down the stairs of a nightclub. police and bouncers told us all not to worry and that the guys a known problem

Damn right. Maybe with the shock you don't do anything the first time you get hit. Twice? You deserved it.
 
Pretty interesting vid with a graphic example of how Not to carry yourself when out & about.
I sat there just waiting knowing which guy was going to get battered as he looked so submissive.
I am Disgusted by the lack of help he got Especially from the Bus driver, I also know for a fact that I would have steamed in, I cannot be around violence without getting riled & once riled I steam in.
