What is your favourite MMO?

I am still working my way through Wrath of the Lich King. Had to stop for a while because my old pc did not like certain regions of the game!

Looking forward to Star Wars : the old republic tho!

Reading some of these posts makes me want to start playing everquest again. I never did get too far into it thought due to my limited play time and not realy knowing anyone ingame.

I cant remember what server i played or what level i got to, but all i remember is playing a wood elf bard and i didn't get too far into the game because i remember leveling in some low level zone for some item drops so that an NPC would make me some green bard armour. After that i remember going to some NPC fort somewhere that the guards were neutral to me yet some high level player was farming them for money or something, who let me pick up the scraps of loot that were useless to him (at my level they were great money).

Even though i never experienced high level content or raiding, it was quite fun and i wish i spent more time on it.

Has anyone here mentioned Vanguard Saga of Heroes ? 'Looks' great and they've had like two years to sort out the main bugs.

I played it for a little while and its actually very good, shame no one really gives it a chance.

I saw it for 98p in a high street game shop recently so its definately worth a punt!

I will always have a soft spot for Everquest, it was the first MMO I tried.

My current favourite is Warhammer though I have fond memories of City of Heroes.

I really want to like EVE but it is just too slow paced and grindy for me.

MMOs on the horizon, Old Republic looks interesting and if the Warhammer 40K MMO ever actually gets made. Also Champions MMO.

.com or mudii? I used to play on Wireplay but left soon after they shut it down and it went pay. Never wizzed though, which is probably my greatest regret in gaming so far.

May have to give it another shot someday, though I'll be damned if I'll ever be able to do the kit rush at the start of a reset again. Can't even remember where to go for wf7 :)

For me there is no MMO apart from EvE Online. Sensational in its originality, epic in scope. MMOs should be another word - EvE is exactly that.

/fanboism

from what i've played

Ultima Online - just loved this game so much.... and then it was ruined *shakes fist at AoS
:(
WoW - used to play pretty casually, but had a second wind with this and really enjoing the end game raids and trying to gear up :)
EVE - played it very briefly and it confused the poop out of me :p but i have some mates who play it and when i watch them it makes me want to play but cba to try and get to their standard :)

runscape- LOL nuff said :p

I am glad there is no other MMO like eve because it was boring as hell. I do have another word for EVE but I cant repeat it here ;)

Has to be EQ1 really. The sense of community was just amazing. You could log in, find a group and make 5 new friends while progressing your character. It was like everyone wanted to talk, zone chatter, guild chat, group chat, private tells rolling in, auctions (pre-bazaar) and so on.

The last MMO I played WAR was completely different. No one chatted, it was like no one could be bothered, me included.

Wouldn't go back though, unless I lost the ability to walk or leave the house.

quite wierd reading some of the planetside comments, its amazing how i still remember a lot of the names/outfits, nc werner - renegade legion until i got dragged off to go play lineage 2 for a year, still will the same group of players in war now,

10 reasons MMOs are gradually getting worse (my opinion).

1. No "need" to group, it's possible to max levels quickly solo, with rest XP or through PvP/PvE grind. It's an MMO without the multi-player.

2. Too many cheats, hacks, macros and radar users.

3. Voice comms - wasn't it great when players had to rely on paying attention?

4. Assist/stick/follow commands - See 3.

5. Comms channels that are spammed constantly, with rubbish.

6. Power leveling and gold selling.

7. You cannot casually play, if you do it's a noobs game, if you can't you're not devoted enough and will fall behind everyone else in the game for equipment you actually need to compete. You must set aside that saturday to take part in a 8 hour raid, screw real life.

8. It's all about 1v1, people deny it, but it is. Surely it should be about fun?

9. Too much non-game talk and when it is, it's usually formulae to calculate max DPS etc. It's all about the l33t!

10. Too many kids with few social skills.

SWG was my first, my best and the only one i stuck with.
I went through the 'combat upgrade' with gritted determination that it would not ruin the game.
It didnt really either ... it was still great.
It was the damned 'New Game Experience' that was the nail in the coffin.
I stuck with it for 12mnths but the game was turned into a shallow 'star wars fan' game.

I never played it 'cos i wanted to be in star wars ... it was a brilliant game that produced probably my best gaming moments ever.

Anyway ...
i tried WAR and it was a bit crap tbh.
