Anyone got their SE xperia!!! what do you think?

Just installed Home 2, looks good but I can't get themes working properly. Also, my mail on the front screen defaults to Outlook Mail... which isn't much good to me as I've got another profile setup. :(

Other than that, looks awesome :D

The community is very good on the PointUI website :)

Yup, I RTFM'd after I posted that and pretty much got it locked down.

Only beef is getting the right file sizes for applets/themes etc.. as there's nowhere near as much WVGA stuff yet. That said there are some quality tweaks out there.

You're right Krooton, this is definitely the way to go with the X1. Full screen Home 2, uninstall SPB mobile shell, job done. :)

My C902 has finally got on my nerves for the last time, it just spent 2 hours rebooting itself and crashing nonstop - had enough.

Going to pick up a simfree phone tomorrow - and tempted by the X1 - question though how loud is the phone when ringing?? Its a tie up between this and the E75 - however dont think the E75 is out just yet or if available to pick up from the likes of CPW simfree

i'd seriously consider NOT getting the x1 at least untill they resolve the build quality issues. Its a great phone but i've been without mine for 3 weeks now waiting for them to replace the case which developed cracks, and i still have to wait another 10 days.

The volumes quite loud though ;)

Guys its very simple..

Remove the vodafone crap of the phone by flashing a generic UK ROM.

for the reception issues flash a new radio...

Thats what i did about 10 minutes after i got my X1 from vodafone....

What Radio are you using?

I have backed up my rom, and put the HARDSPL bit in - just trying to find a rom to my liking... currently got SPB Mobile on and quite like the "home" screen it uses.

What roms are you guys running?

at the moment i am using 1.11.25.76 as radio and jackleung's 3.5 Medium as ROM.

Is it possible to flash new radio software (for reception) without reinstalling the main firmware? as I have mine setup perfectly UI wise with lots of extra software and settings but the poor reception is really doing my head in.

This phone would be excellent except... poor reception, very poor camera quality that means holding it dead steady for like 15 seconds or it blurrs, poor video recording and playback (hardware limited to 7.5fps @ VGA+ due to patent issues).

That and vodafone left out codecs for AAC, etc. in their firmware so I had to get a 3rd party player to play my iTunes+ music.

What interfaces are you guys using?

I'm finding too many bugs with the latest TF3D builds. I like SPB shell but again I'm finding this hinders performance and there are a few noticable bugs.

R2A firmware is definitely better than the O2 supplied R1! But would like to tart the interface up a bit.

Nice phone, but the signal does suck as mentioned above and WM is quite buggy.

I like it, but a little annoyed I didn't give the blackberry more time :(

I stripped it down to a bare WM interface, added a couple of customisations to the menu so I can get to everything quickly and thats it for me, no touchflow or panels or anything.

I've tweaked it extensively for performance and minimalistic interface and added lots of 3rd party software for functionality.

My main uses are for internet browsing and mobile putty (so I can ssh into my servers, etc.).

TBH if they sorted out the reception, got the optical joypad working properly (disabled mine coz sometimes it sticks on), got the camera quality upto scratch and sorted out the media playback/recording issues this phone would own, the resolution is nice, touchscreen is superb, mines very responsive and stable, battery life is decent enough (I get a good 3 days between recharges if I hammer it and about 7-10 days on average use).

Agreed. The phone is so close to perfection BUT is missing some simple key features/has some 'lazy' bugs which make it very very annoying at times. At least the SMS notification bug appears to be gone with R2.

I didn't realise you can disable the crappy joypad - though I have to admit I haven't had that much time to properly play around on there.

Can you expand on your key performance tweaks at all? I've done the basics as mentioned over at XDA developers, just wondered if you'd done something noticabely extra?

Can't remeber what its called but XperiaTweak2.CAB is the file with several (IMO) essential tweaks... Then I did several more manually.

The optical joypad would be perfection if it worked without problems but mine tends to randomly stick in one direction so I disabled it (easy to do through the system options)

I love and hate the phone, its so close to perfection that the lazy bugs are really frustrating.

Ah XperiaTweak - using this too. Very handy. Agreed about the love hate thing :D

I phoned O2 last week by the way to complain that they hadn't released an O2 version of R2A. The lady asked what problems I was having so I explained and they are sending me a replacement on Tuesday. Not really sure why they think this will help - but can't complain getting another one. Keeps it in new condition for longer :D

Mine has so far managed to stay in pretty good condition, despite being knocked around a bit on my job, the only thing that doesn't look pristine and new is the sides of the battery cover, the finish wore away on the edges after the first day which was a bit crap but I can live with it. None of the case degredation a very few people have reported.
