E46 323. .

I suspect you may well become bored stupid with it in a short matter of time without a manual box to keep you at least a little bit interested.

Why?
Because 99% of his driving will be rallying around back roads where being in a manual will really make the difference?

Its got the same style wheel as fitted to my e36!

I'd have thought the e46's wheel would have been different.

i think thats what he is saying, with the better e46 one (ie a new one), it would be a nicer place to be.
Which i agree, my steering wheel is so much nicer than that :p

The 323 looks quite nice, with a new steering wheel i'd live with that car. The only thing which is disappointing is the weedy engine.
Since when has a 6 cylinder 2.5l 170bhp engine been 'weedy'? Its more than enough for most people.

I'll be coming from a 320+ bhp car, but I think I could take the hit if it meant running costs that were sane for a while. But going from a Japanese car to a German car I'm not sure that will be the case?

I'm not sure you'll be able to take it mate, that engine isn't fantastic and will feel about as powerful as a paper bag compared with a 320bhp (i assume turbocharged) car.

It'll be cheap to run though if you maintain it yourself, BMW parts are uber cheap.

I find that they are completely random. Some parts that you'd expect to be expensive are stupidly cheap, some parts that you'd expect to be cheap are ridiculous money.

But on the whole I've not been too phased by BMW part pricing.

From places like euro car parts i'd say they are pretty cheap mate in general. Cheaper than the japanese parts he will be used to on a 320bhp monster anyway i'd have thought

The only things I've found wowcheap are brake pads etc. I wouldnt want to put Eurocarparts pattern suspension bits anywhere near the car anyway and the OE supplier ones are hardly 'cheap'?

The rear LEDs would also be fake would they not, the prefacelift coupes don't fit facelift rear LED clusters?

Oh, i was talking about pattern parts. On a 323 i'd buy nothing more personally...

What so you can replace them every 43 seconds as they dont last very long? I dont think the quality of parts used is something that only matters if you have a certain model

There are numerous reports of people fitting pattern suspension components to BMW's and finding they need to do the same job again less than a year later. Always buy OEM suspension components, or quality, reputable uprated items.

Either way..suspension replacement on that 323 (if it needs it) will not be any more than any other car really, its not an unusual setup, especially a japanese 320bhp+ one

By uber cheap, i more meant that it takes normal parts available very readily, which will be no more really than anything else :)

Yes they are the Eagle Eyes smoked ones, they look excellent in the pics!! Love them!

However don't always assume prefacelifts with LEDs are fake clusters, I fitted OEM ones to my prefacelift 325ci. :)

True of every replacement part IMO. I rarely buy pattern parts, but have had hassle nearly every time I have.
