Is Susan Boyle really that good?

She's a good singer, nothing more nothing less.

Bandwagon jumpers love the fact that she is a munter and the next thing you know there is talk of a multi million dollar recording contract in the USA on the horizon.

Once again shock value prevails.

She has a good voice, what the hell has looks got to do with anything.

I don't even like the song, I can just see she has a good voice.

"Blah blah blah not as good as some" :o

She does have a good voice, I'm just saying the only reason the internet/papers and stuff are going mad over it is because she isn't a 20 year old barbie doll. It's not my preferred style of singing (or song) but I can recognise the skill.

Goodo :)

Now then, I shall go back to not watching t.v...Infact I wouldn't know about this unless my mate sent me a youtube link with his comment of: "16million views already...This country is doomed" :p

She must have definately broken some youtube record for the most number of hits / time scale....that's for sure. Good luck to her anyway.

Indeed, i only know about it because my parents read the daily mail

I've been thinking about this for the last couple of days, and I still can't decide. My first impression was that she hasn't had lessons due to the issues with her lower notes, and I'd like to hear her after some decent training.

If you're interested in a comparison to "real" singers, Lea Salonga and Ruthie Henshall are among the best. Here is a decent version of Lea Salonga, and here is Ruthie Henshall from the 10th anniversary dream cast.

I have to say I was so thrilled that she knocked them all back with that stunning voice. Come on people where laughing and feeling embarrased for her and the judges looks etc. She had some guts and shown them all. She has a great voice as did paul potts. Not everyone who is a great singer has to be a looker. People on here just like to put people down all the time.

A few years ago somebody posted a video of a 4 year old Russian (!) lad playing the drums and he was really good.
Some idiot on here actually posted "Yeah, he's OK, but he's not as good as Neil Peart".

Indeed, exactly my point really :)

Nevermind eh.

Despite hundreds of thousands of dollars spent in marketing and performances:

James Blunt - FAILED in America
Lily Allen - FAILED in America
Craig David - FAILED in America
Amy Winehouse - FAILED in America
Robbie Williams - FAILED in America (haha)

47yr old frump comes along with no industry muscle propping her up, looking like the crazy woman down the street, and is set to make the above cry into their cheerios.

Good for you Susan.

I really think singers shouldn't be allowed to enter/win Britain's Got Talent. That's what X Factor is for. If I want to watch a singing competition I'll watch that.

Nothing happens on britains got talent though does it? I mean Xfactor I presume they do that to actually get a record deal...
