Fifa 09 long range shot = impossible!?

Hi guys

Does anyone know how you score a long range shot in Fifa 09, it seems impossible to me.

I've tried every button combination I can think of but it either flies over the bar by miles or simply goes to the keeper.

I understand that its supposed to be hard to score from 30 + yards but it seems impossible for me after playing for ages.

So Is there any kind soul that can help me in my quest for a long range screamer?

hard and low i tend to knock the ball forward using first touch. I then do a full power shot on the bar, before he kicks the ball i keep tapping shoot. He will then blast it.

Into the top corner i don't know seems to be luck, I have had it happen a couple of times when its for there hat-trick.
 
Depends a lot on their position, what foot they are, how good their ability is, how fast they are moving, what direction they are going, what part of the pitch etc etc.

I usually go abut 3/4 power, and give it a direction to the top left, I preffer long shots with left footed players :)
 
only certain players can pull it off,

ibrahimavic and rooney, maybe ronaldo

my cousin scores plenty of them against me, you have to tap the top right button and aim the shot, or just blast the shot with their right foot when they have good control of the ball and are running at an angle, never run straight at goal, always at an angle and make sure they have the ball on their strong foot

Not true at all.

I have scored long range shots with others from coca cola teams and my own BAP player.
 
I've scored two over 30 yards, one came of a defender but still counted and the second was when their goalie came up for a corner and I blasted it in from inside my half on the break :)
 
I've scored loads of long range goals in Club matches. Probably down to the fact we've played near 800 club matches though. :p

Ps3ud0 scores quite a few from KO.
 
I got my trophy when the opp goal keeper came out to clear it, it fell right to my defender who just hoofed it back and it went in. It was Alan White, Darlington's centre back, I guess I got pretty lucky with it. He only ever scores headers in real life :p

I also got one with John Carew from almost on the corner spot, which was intended as a cross but curled back towards goal and decieved the GK who had ran out to collect it. :D

I've scored more since then with various players. I get a few with Paul Scholes in the club games, he's got a really good shot on him, but as Skip says we've played that many games!

I've scored with Ledley King midway in the oppositions half. :eek:

Whipped in a corner which they cleared.

King chests the ball at half way line and moves forward. The ball bounces just off the ground so I think 'What the hell' and shoot.

He launches it and it flies above the keepers head, through his hands and into the roof of the net.

If only you could save replays at the end of online games. :(
 
I've scored a long-range goal with Messi on his left foot, but didnt get that long-range trophy... i was probably like a yard or two off.
I've noticed that players that have excellent shot-ratings can score from long-range when approaching the box from an angle on their strong foot and aiming for the far post.
 
My mate played against a kid of about 14 on it local multiplayer, it was the first time the kid had ever played fifa, it was 0-0 at half time and apparantly the kid passed it back into his own half, shot and it went in. Obviously my friend was extremely embarassed, went on to lose. I've never had a shot much over 30 yards go in.
 
I did 2 achievements in one for this...

Scored from 37 yards from a free kick.

The easiest way to do this i imagine is to somehow force the goalkeeper out of his net and score in the empty.
