5 mins until my telephone interview for BP.... Wish me luck!

no.... he asked me the easiest question and i couldn't think lol.

"so tell me what you know about BP?"

"erm......... hmmm.... not sure. They sell petrol lol"

"bye"

I can't believe you royally caked up the most common question a company will ask an interviewee.

If I was BP I wouldn't want you working in one of my petrol stations either "lol".

"They sell petrol", that's just classic. I also hope the "lol" is just for the forum's benefit and that you didn't actually laugh out loud like some sort of Joey during the interview.

I wouldn't mind but i had a booklet infront of me with a perfect sentence on what to say lol.

He said though... we will call you to arrange a face to face 3 on 1 interview tomorrow and if you are serious Luke, get some revision done. You seem like a sensible lad but if you truly want a career as a marine engineer, you need to know more than what you do.

If not, tell us and we won't ask you to come for an interview.

If he was lieing, he could have just said sorry pal, no chance and left it at that.

So you were going for quiet a good job (from the sounds of it) and you failed at the first hurdle?

i did actually laugh out loud ;)

He didn't.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

*breath*

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Well, it seems i need to do a lot of work if i pass the next part, but he said his assistant will phone me tomorrow to arrange an interview for next week with the big guns and cheif engineer.

So not only did you screw it up, what you wrote above wasn't the whole story?

i did actually laugh out loud ;)

He didn't.

Do him a favour and tell him to forget about it. McDonalds are hiring, even in a recession. Flipping burgers doesn't require you to be a smart arse or very handily - to "lol".

For that kind of job, I imagine your CV is more important than a phone interview. You'll probably have to present your credentials at the real interview, and that's when they'll decide for sure.

they have my C.V - they have everything on me ;)

thats why i got the phone interview. He gave me loads of tips and info and said i seem mature and sensible and told me theres other people like me who he dismisses as they don't seem to know about anything. Im guessing he actually liked me.

You don't sound very bright, the 10 ton of jeans thread, now this. You should have ended the phone interview with "FML"

I am a very bright lad to be honest. Just a dick to be honest. I should have researched. But i never... my mate phoned me to play CoD: WAW on the 360.

I might just relist in the army...
