This is why I went for it over the iPhone, as well as the fact that I don't appreciate being locked to one network.
There is no way on this Earth that i'm going to be buttonholed to specific tariffs, and then on top, have to pay for the phone on top of the cheapest ones.
Then we get a (grudingly released I think) expensive PAYG option.

Hmm, my contract ends 26th June, I'm with o2 and have been for 4 years now...so usually get a good deal from them (currently on 250 mins 100 txts and had the K850i day it came out for £15 a month and no charge for the phone).
Really wanted the iPhone but the more I read about this the more tempted I am to get it instead...unless o2 can knock £10 off a month for the iPhone tariffs like they do for me now I'm gonna get one of these instead!

From having used an iPhone and an iPod Touch, I would say the iPhone is still the best. But this little gem isn't far behind. It's the best phone Nokia have done for web browsing, and I prefer using the stylus to my fingers (which I don't have a choice of on the iPhone).
Also there's the reasons mentioned above. The iPhone is far too expensive for what it is, especially compared to the 5800.

Na you didnt get if for free - you paid about £270 for it in your contract. Most Sim only contracts work out to be £270 less over 18months.

there is a way to update the firmware manually, it works as it bought back to life my bricked phone!
I just use the official protector included in the box. Works well.
Im using the rubber nokia case that came with the phone, and I ordered some screen protectors from the bay,which turned up today, have put one on the phone, and have just one air bubble I cant get out.
I think im going to cry the first time I drop this phone because im so petrified of damaging the screen.
Did your phone come in a black nokia box with like about 4 compartments?

Currently 5800's are using the NAM SKU which means very short USB cable, no case and no spare stylus. Why? Stock problems I guess, they are bringing them in from the US.
Problem is as it's being sold in the UK you should have the case, the extra stylus and a proper length USB cable. So if you do get one of these, complain! As it's not what ytou should get!

I got mine last week, and I have all of the things you mentioned above. (my USB lead looks about a metre long) Guess it depends which provider you get the phone from maybe?
