creative's drivers, are they really that bad?

there supposed to have improved the vista drivers, might be better off asking the question in the sound forum.

Creative threatened the Dude that created the fix with a Law suit, There was a thread about it somewhere with a link where everybody & his dog posted abuse to Creative. Buy a different card.

hi all
i was looking into getting this sound card
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SC-049-CL&groupid=701&catid=11&subcat=
but i have read on a couple of reviews and the such that the drivers with vista can be a bit tempremental. what i want to know is will the eax and crystaliser all work properly under vista ultimate x64 or will i end up stabbing myself with the card

That card isn't a real X-Fi. Its a rebadged Audigy SE. It's no better than onbaord audio really - possibly worse.

I had to reinstall Vista because the drivers were so bad. I felt like chucking the card as far as i could in 7.1 directions... But realised it would have been a waste of money

I have the xtreme audio card, and it is way better than onboard as it cuts out the terrible hiss/interference I was getting at high volume with the onboard. ( i have my pc hookeed up to a hi-fi as my main music center, rather than cd's) But the joy stops there, I now get random BSODS, 0x0000024, probably about 1 a day, sometimes more.
always the same error, but I dont get them if im actualy playing sound?

its driving me nuts to be honest, soes anyone know a good site for alternate drivers? using vista x64.

on the plus side, eax and cystalizer work fine but make the audio track sound terrible for music, at high volume, you can actualy hear the EQ swelling and drooping like you are partially under water, I just leave it on plain stereo.

I guess It would have some use with really pants speakers at low volume, as a kind of dynamic loudness function, but on decent equipment it just sounds awfull as you can actualy hear the EQ/volume adjustments on different sections of bandwidth...brllergh.
