My latest threatening letter from the TV licensing people has come with a pre-paid return envelope and a form which makes it easy for me to send them a cheque.

So what do I use it for? So have I have:
-Send poo (DNA evidence ).
-Send them a cheque for £0.00 (What would my bank do?).

And before anyone calls me a ****ing ****ing ****, I don't have a TV.

Phone and say you have no tv. Problem solved.

What is the position with radio these days. What is the position concerning using the internet to view TVand hear radio.

There is a part of me which is deeply offended by the notion of having a government assume I own a particular piece of electronic entertainment hardware, and then on the basis of that assumption starts hassling and using bully boy tactics.

For this reason, and assuming there is no legal obligation to inform central government you do not own a TV, I say ignore them and let them waste lots of time and money embarrassing themselves.

im interested to know about the legalities of using the internet to watch tv and listen to radio also?

Don't worry about it mate! If you haven't got a TV then whats the worst that can happen. They send someone round to check an find you don't have a TV just ignore it!

Just throw it away? Im amazed at the amount of friends I have who have been getting away without paying their fees for years

I know this has been gone over before, but you don't have to let them in if they come round, do you?

Edit - From the all-knowing Wikipedia

TV Licensing enforces the BBC's statutory obligation to ensure that every address where a television licence is required is correctly licensed,[42] but its agents have no special rights and, like any other member of the public, rely on an implied right of access to reach the front door.[10][53] The occupants of a visited property may deny an agent entry to the premises[55] without cause and are under no obligation to answer any questions or enter into any conversation. If an agent has evidence that television is being watched or recorded illegally but is denied entry by the occupants so that (s)he cannot verify the suspicion without trespassing, then TV Licensing may apply to a magistrate for a search warrant, but the use of such warrants is rare.[44] The BBC states that a search warrant would never be applied for solely on the basis of non-cooperation with TV Licensing[56][53] and that in the event of being denied access to unlicensed property will use detection equipment rather than a search warrant.[55]
