Go on youtube and search for 'pepe real madrid tackle'

happend the other day and i have to say it's the worst tackle i have seen.

doesn't show the bit where he hits another player aswell.

what do you guys think?

Rennes had a player sent off for a shocking shocking tackle, very similar to Taylor trying to kill Edd at Arsenal.

10 game ban.
Horrific.

Pepe, should get a fairly long ban, but probably won't seeing as he plays for Real Madrid.
Was an awful thing to do, even if you lose your temper you shouldn't kick out *twice at an opposing player.

No, you're right Pigeon Killer, it wasn't horrific, but it is bad enough to warrent a extended suspension.

I thought it was fustration that the player clearly made a meal out of it and went over too easy after the first contact. The second was deffo half aimed at the player, red mist could be seen at that point, but the third was just utterly ridiculous.

yup, theres something to be said about the diving git he kicked, he also didn't do it for the sake of doing it, he was angry that literally a tap on the shoulder sent him looking for a penalty but its still a disgrace, and both kicks were clearly aimed at the player, who is relatively lucky Pepe had momentum which took his kick away from what could have been a really nasty swing right in the balls.

Should most certainly get a decent ban for something like that though, and saying Taylors tackle had nothing wrong with it is simply retarded. It wasn't malicious, and he didn't intend to hurt Eduardo but it was without question reckless and stupid, dangerous and the kind of tackle that needs a decent ban to go with it.

Holy crap that Rennes tackle was nasty, again like Taylors not malicious at all but a lunge too high catching a standing leg ankle like that, you simply can't do it, its reckless, the full weight/momentum of what was a pretty huge guy right into his leg and snap.

Good god. I've seen worse tackles in chess :o

Joking aside, the first kick was aimed at the ball and the second brushed off the players back. Just frustration rather than a bad tackle. For bad tackles see Ben Thatcher vs Mendes ;)

Some shockers in this video.

Some crazy **** in that video that i just watched:eek:...Ill never forget that French git Cantona and his kung fu antics...should have been kicked out of the game forever for that assault.

But geez some of them were pretty nasty especially Di Canio and his shove on the ref after getting a red card. That Martin Keown elbow on RVN was pretty bad as well.

Saw the Pepe incident and have to say that was pretty stupid of him to do that.

Not really. It was a clumsy tackle

You've basically agreed with him then, by admitting that it was 'clumsy' rather than "nothing wrong with" it :)

How anyone can say there is "nothing wrong with" a blatant foul where there is no contact with the ball is beyond me. If that was the case, there shouldn't have even been a freekick given.

Whether or not there was any intent to hurt the player, whether it should have been a red card or not, a foul is a foul.

I know what you are saying but i was more reffering to his implication that Taylor's challenge was militious and when Nokkon said there was nothing wrong with it, im sure he didn't mean it literally and was just reffering to:
'Taylor trying to kill Edd at Arsenal', which Tummy originally said.

Point taken but even so, as DM has said, reckless/dangerous tackles need to be clamped down on too (for this very reason). If players knew they could get away with stomping their legs in at shin height as long as the ball is vaguely in the vicinity we'd likely see more injuries, even if not always that serious.

It's loosely synonymous with the 'foot up' freekicks you see given even when no contact is made.... they aren't been given because players are trying to hurt people, it's because they could potentially do so.

No doubt about that. However because Eduardo picked up a nasty injury, Taylor's challenge gets made out to be far worse than it actually was. It was clumsy and was reckless/dangerous and deserved a red card but there have been far worse challenges before and since it.
