Can someone with a HDMI 1.3 output (that carries sound too, like 4xxx series ATi card) try this new version of ffdshow - Beta 6?

http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/changelog.php

Included in the changelog is this;
Added support for Dolby TrueHD and MLP decoding (full TrueHD decoding or AC3 can pass-through depending on config)

It doesn't say though if it needs a PAP enabled device like the HDAV though. Oh, and you'll need a HD audio AV amp as well.

Surely someone can try this!? It would be great if they've figured out how to bypass the PAP check.

I think it's probably just decoding support but you never know.

i am using this now but i cant seem to get any udio other than stereo to work, if i enable ac3 or dts passthrough the ffdshow audio decoder icon never shows up but if i deselct passthrough it will appear again.

any idea what settings i should be using to get it to play dts/ac3 for a start?

No mate, not yet.

I think the point of this addition to ffdshow is just to 'decode' TrueHD rather than bitstream. I've got some discs (Ironman springs to mind) that have a TrueHD track but no standard DD one (except in Italian!!). By being able to decode the TrueHD track to PCM you can still have 5.1 sound and in English!! Otherwise you'd only get 2 channels. DTS-MA isn't a problem as it always has a standard DTS track at it's 'core'.
