After reading some other finance-oriented threads, I've sat down and worked out how much I spend a month on going out on the lash and am frankly quite shocked. As today's payday I've decided that I'm treating myself to an NEC 24WMGX today, and also a new video card (not sure which, probably a 4870 of some description) instead of literally peeing the money away down the pub.

I meant to do this a fews months ago but unexpected expenses meant I didn't do it :(

I now obviously have to go a whole month without going out on the lash - this is a good thing as I have shedloads of study to do as well.

Thread for tracking and reminding myself why I'm doing it :D

If the local pub closes, it'll probably be my fault :(

Good luck, I've managed 6 weeks so far though it's my brothers stag do this weekend so I think it's about to go to pot.

depends what your mates do, no? if they drink every night or four times a week its pretty hard for sure:p

My mates go out constantly, just drink water and make yourself the designated driver. It's worth it when you pocket around £20 at the end of the night

I'm the same.

Usually spent £70-£100 on an average night out. If it's a big night and we go away somewhere, £120-£180.

I spent over 600 quid going out getting hammered over the last month. I have no idea how!

its easily done if your not keeping track, I used to be like you. But I budget myself on nights out now and saved a fortune. you can have the best of both worlds.

Yep, even more if you need to get a taxi as you missed the last train home from town :)

The scary thing is I was actually pretty tame the past month, or so I thought. I don't want to see what I spent in January on booze (catching up with everyone after 3 months away, and out pretty much every night(.

I usualy end up buying drinks for all my mates and girls and random strangers and the people that serve me....

i managed 3 weeks without drinking once (new year res) going to try again as like everyone else here i spend way to much on alcohol.

Yeah once you have been without it for a while its very easy t give up

I dont really drink at all anymore and if i do its not to get "lashed" its to enjoy the drink.

The amount of money you save is unreal

Yeah I tend to get way too generous if I'm really drunk - that's when nights out start costing double what they should :D To be fair I earn quite a bit more than most of my mates so don't mind putting my hand in my pocket :D

I think its easy too, I don't drink at all now, have just as much fun when I go out without making a dick of myself or having a hang over the next day.

And then there is the money saving and health benefits.
