A man and his pet bear

after looking through the pics this guy has a good chance of not getting eaten aslong as the bear doesnt get hungry

the bear in OP genuinely looks like hes mates with the guy. the bears in grizzly man all look like they hated the guy. can see it in there eyes ! he got close to them but never as close as guy in OP

yeah, the bears in grizzly man are wild animals

presumably the bond through bottle feeding is strong. I would still be nervous!

It reminds me of Lord Byron for some reason. The Cambridge University campus rules said no dogs, so he kept a bear instead.

The guy must have an awful lot of faith in their friendship...

I guess they're just like cats/dogs really... if you domesticate them at an early age and they adjust to life with humans then anything is possible

Thing is that Bear's vs Cat's and Dog's being domesticated is slightly different... The typical Cat's and Dog's we have in our homes have been raised in our home's, just like the bear.

But - so have the parent's of those Cat's and Dog's, chances are that the Bear was just picked up somewhere and raised as a human. So it's less domesticated than the average cat / dog in your every day home.

I think it's a bitty cruel taking the animal out of the wild and away from its parents like that but he may have had a good reason to.
It seems like something I would do and might end up doing as next summer I'm planning on going to Asia to work rehabilitating bears used in bile farming. Might end up keeping one :)

Why am I constantly thinking of that woman in America not long ago who had a pet bear and it turned on her and her friend? And there was the police phone call recording on YouTube :(
