Looks nice especially in 21:9 widescreen. Not sure about the whole ambilight thing though as it pre-empts the colours there where it cant do that in real life without some sort of film delay.

Errrrr my 42" does fine in 16:9, no black lines.
Don't need a "fancy" tv for this.

Don't want stupid lights behind either I'm not looking at that, the cinema doesn't even do that.

Though I do love Phillips AmbX technology.

I bought their AmbX Speakers for my PC and I do actually love them, so used to playing games and watching films with ambx now I hate anything without it haha!

Ambilight is crap and annoying, stick a white light behind the tv and be done.

The tv is crap, will cost the earth, and will no doubt have the horrid fundamental problems that philips tvs still have, like not even displying films properly (24fps with 3:2 pulldown).

Just have a normal tv for tv then get a projector for films.... As G. Ramsay would say: DONE !

It's not pre-empting the colours, but can't find a link anywhere that explains what it does. The colours are relative to the light that is on screen..it kind of senses that and diffuses it around the TV using LEDs.

Moving through entire rooms of frozen action for over a minute is rather at the far end of "special effects".

Yes but the one in the ad is pre-empting the colours. You can see the yellow ambi light appear before the screen which the tv cant do in real life.

I quite like the ambilight. Was flicking between on and off and when on it almost makes the screen look bigger. How it could be executed without somesort of delay though is another story. Thanks for posting.
