Right, having hummed and hawed about it for weeks now, I've finally got all the cash together to get my PC ordered.

Would appreciate any feedback on this:

My only real quandary at the moment is 4870 or 4890...

Cheers for any feedback guys, can't wait to get this ordered up now, it's been so long coming!
 
Looking good, what about the PSU or are you using the one in your sig.
I would stick with the 4870.
 
Yep, case and PSU from my sig.

I was thinking the 4890 probably wasn't worth the extra, particularly since the 4870 XXX is on offer....

Good job sja. Can you let us know when the kit actually gets delivered if you're using the standard delivery. Just curious as I live in Dundee, will be ordering in the next few weeks and I want to work out what days I may need to take off for delivery. Think DPD has depots in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and 2 in Glasgow. Not sure about Inverness so not sure where yours will be making the final leg to Inverness from.

I suspect it might be AJG Parcels that will deliver to the door up here, they seem to have the contract for most of the major couriers. The delivery options I got for Inverness were 2 day only, and cost an extra 3quid or so over normal "UK" deliveries.

I usually don't deal with companies that charge a surcharge for the Highlands, but in this case it was only 3 quid, so I went for it.

I'll update this thread when the bits arrive anyway and let you know. :)
 
Just had an email actually to say the order has been shipped - damn; ocUK are fast. :D

Well I've just called AJG Parcels with the DPD consignment number and they say it's scheduled for delivery to me this afternoon... which would be 24 hours rather than the 2 day. I'll let you know if it appears.
 
I cannot believe the difference this PC has made... even just playing WoW - it's like an entirely new game. I've gone from having to run everything on minimum so it would work on my laptop to everything being on "ultra" and still getting 40+fps...

A+ service from ocUK too, so all in all I'm well chuffed.

Thanks to all those that offered advice, much appreciated. :)
 
lol - I got some crappy iPhone pics during the build, but binned most of them as they were too fuzzy.

I'll open the case tonight again and grab my SLR, see if I can get any decent shots. :D

The iPhone camera is terrible in anything other than perfect lighting.

That was it on its first test boot prior to doing any cable tidying.
