Which gaming mouse please

Razer DeathAdder I'd say is probably one of the best mice ever. I'd still have mine if it weren't for the absolutely God awful rubbery texture on the top of it.

I would even pay 100 quid for a version that was smooth plastic like the copperhead instead of that ghastly rubber. It was fine at first but it really picked up the grime. Impossible to rub down, and always felt dusty.

mmm i love the rubery texture. Which is always clean and never dusty. So i think perhaps you should just stop using it with greasy fingers etc.

My hands are always clean when using any equipment. It never actually was dusty, it just felt dusty due to the rubber.

Another vote for the Razer Deathadder!

Had mine for ages and still works perfectly...best gaming mouse I've ever used!

Use mine with a Steelseries SP mat and haven't missed a headshot yet! ;)

I think for your decision your gonna have to look at a few factors..

Have you got big hands?
Do you palm your mouse(Settle your whole palm/hand onto the mouse and mouse your wriest)?
Or, do you perch your fingers on the buttons and move your whole arm(which you might end up doing if you get too small a mouse)?
Does your current setup have a color scheme and are you bother about keeping with it?
Do you play a lot of FPS games or RTS games or games which would be made easier with lots of extra mice buttons?

All of these if answered differently lead to all the mice people have mentioned so far so i would think about it.

I've used an MX 518 for about 3 years and it has been great. I have just ordered a G5 however since I held one in a shop and it felt even better than the 518 does in my hand. I'm not sure there is much difference in actual shape but the material of the G5 seems to give a more comfortable grip. I'm not sure how switching from optical to laser will impact things. I use a low sensitivity in quake.

I've got a MX518 and G5, both are great but the G5 has the edge I reckon and I dont faf about with its weights either, I just put the heaviest ones in and got on with it, going back to my more ergonomic MX Revolution for general surfing takes a bit of getting used to after the G5.

Now if only Logitech would make a MX Revolution shaped wired gaming mouse, life would be perfect, that mouse I can use for hours on end with no discomfort. I'm an older Gamer with slightly arthritic wrists, you see.

Well I lived with the G5 for a month. Gave it a good go and came to the conclusion that it is slightly too big and not as comfortable as my MX510 (I meant MX510 in previous post rather than 518). It also seemed very temperamental in terms of twitchyness and skipping with very fast movements. I'm not sure if it is because of the Laser technology instead of Optical but that is the most likely reason.

So, I have gone back to my MX510 and my gaming on quakelive feels much more natural and steady.

Just a warning for those considering a G5.

BTW, I am a fairly low sensitivity FPS Player.

I'm a claw grip type so I've ordered a G9 (not from here though unfortunately, way too expensive). Hopefully I'll be able to get along with it.

I got a Deathadder this week and it is incredibly comfortable which is my number one requirement. If you are looking for a mouse you can use over extensive periods I think it would be hard to beat.
