I've lost all respect for the military.

Probably would have happened whether or not they were in the forces.

Not the point. Our forces are meant to be setting the example for our country, and representing us in foreign countries, not beating the crap out of each other.

Sort of off topic, but what is it with Walkabout lol. It's one of two places in Liverpool that I've been overtly racially sworn at, and it's the only venue round here that has metal detectors at the entrance. Some guy got stabbed in arse and stomach after a Merseyside derby.

Holy crap, I heard about this poor bloke on the local radio the other day.

This is one of the reasons I avoid "mainstream" going out places in Portsmouth these days, too many ********* about.

I heard 4 men in their 20's have been arrested for the murder? Absolutley sickening, I hope they all go down for life.

youve lost respect for the whole military because of this one story ?

one group of bad people dont make the whole military bad

fights happen all the time. wether the military are involved or not

Royal Marine Ben Scott, from Southsea, is to appear later before Portsmouth magistrates charged with murder.

Just the one guy at the moment, but from witness accounts there were 3 men kicking and hitting him with a barstool. I've been in Walkabout in Portsmouth, and they're not light.

It's a cheap vertical drinking bar - you're going to get drunken idiots there.

Yes. marines are supposed to be the elite, the very best of what our country has to offer.

I agree, fights happen all the time - but people don't get killed.

He's from Southsea?! No wais, thats where I live!

Absolutley disgusting, he deserves everything thats comming to him and more I hope! Commercial Road walk is an absolute joke for chavs/wasted people. I think everytime I've been out on a night out since living here, even on "Non chav nights", I have see a fight of some sort.

:(

Got told this last night mate, didn't even know the bloke but obviously know you and other half. Really not nice to hear and I agree it's really not good when it's the forces involved in stuff like this.

Goes without saying, thought it a funny but slightly non sensical coinkydink.

The walkabout in Bournemouth had the great honour of having the statistically most dangerous spot in the south-east at closing time on Fridays/Saturdays. The managemnet also refused to change the layout (fights started as men had to cut through the drink queue to get to the toilets) or switch to plastic glasses (after numerous people lost vision in one eye/had dozens of stitches etc) until the council and police were going to shut them down. I suppose it's probably just the local one, but it was/is a grim pub/club. :(

Just because 3 scummy ***** attack someone doesn't mean the rest of the army would.

The fact that most people can get into the army means that there is a very high chance there will be people like this present :/

This is why i'm thankful that squaddies have been banned from 99% of bars in Canterbury.

Have they? Walked into a load of Scottish squaddies in the pub next to Wetherspoons at the weekend. Didn't seem that bad :P

actions of the armed forces fight each other and have done since the dawn of the military.

A mate who is an ex-marine told me a story of when he was in a nightclub with some colleagues when they ran into a bunch of paras.

A fight ensued between them and when doormen came over, they united as a team and fought the doorstaff.

They then made off and drank together in a pub, claiming what a good fight it was.

I don't condone it but then again I don't lose respect for the military as a result.

It is a very work hard play hard ethos.

this has nothing to do with the forces, but it is sickening

Agreed. No details are in those articles (that I admint, I skimmed it anywa) as to why they had a fight, it might be totally un-related, just un-fortunate they were both in the armed forces.
