***HTC Magic Thread***

its either this or the samsung I7500 for me. (when it comes out) the i7500 has some better perks like 3.5mm jack and a better cam but thats not too important

I've had my Magic for about an hour now and I love it. It is so much more responsive and intuitive than the touch diamond (which I upgraded the rom on and did everything I could to make it a better phone - and it was pretty good by the end of all that)

I use google apps for my own domain and also get mail from a few other accounts into it. Just providing my username and password meant all my accounts are synced (with push I think, seems just as quick as my desktop), contacts, calendar, all done.

It is smaller than it looks in the photos and much sexier, i thought it looked a bit like a PDA from 2001 on some of the pics.

Haven't done too much with it yet, but so far delighted. The screen looks great and touch works really well. The on screen keyboard is so much better than the touchflo one th diamond uses.

My sister txted me saying the phone arrived (I am at work) and that she's played with the camera and put her sim in - I think she's joking as she knows I don't like people ****** up my new shizzle but if she's not I may be posting a "my sister is missing" thread in GD soon !!!

My wife just asked me if i was going to be playing with that phone all day? Well, yes, that's the plan!

Sounds good, just upgraded to this (arrives monday) with 250 minutes, 100 texts, unlimited internet for £25 a month. A snappy interface if just what I need after windows mobile!

Is that with Stop the Clock mate?

Good tariff!

Mine is 120mins voice with stop the clock with 250 textsand unlimited internet @ 24/month.

I just started deleting my files and settings on the diamond ready to sell and it is amazing how sluggish it feels after an hour or so with the magic. Given that the diamond is a very current phone, android makes WM seem like a dinosaur of an OS!

Can you quickly confirm what kind of contacts can be imported? I'll be importing lots of contacts from my SE K800i and using myphoneexplorer can export form the k800 to various formats!

I don't know about stop the clock tbh. So it probably doesn't have it.

I felt good about that tariff as I had to barter him down from that at £30 a month. Your tariff sounds good, but since I have been out of contract I make more calls then texts, so mine is more useful :)

Ah cool, stop the clock is evenings and weekends any xnet calls or landline calls made you only use up 3 mins with the remaining 57mins being free which is pretty awesome as essentially it ends up being a few hundred mins a month contract for only £24 !

That sounds pretty useful, I'll make sure when the misses upgrades she gets that included. ta mrk :)

Really liked that video mrk!

I'm quite keen on the Samsung I7500 as I heard its coming to o2? Been trying out Android on my HTC TyTn II and loving the interface, shame that the hardware doesn't work very well!

The phone feels amazing, MUCH better quality than any of the phones I manhandled in phone shops and 100x better than the Nokia 5800 - the screen itself feels like solid glass, has that cold solid feel to it.

The UI is very snappy, reminds me of Windows 7, the animations as each window slides and fades is fast and slick. The keypad is awesome too and responsive. Easy to type fast in both orientations. The Google Account integration is amazing, I can now keep my mobile contacts in Gmail under a contacts group I created called "Androidees" and tell the phone only to display these contacts.

I love it, it really is an amazing phone to use as a communication tool, the settings seem to be very easy to set and use and gadgets will improve them further from the marketplace. I've not ventured into the other settings yet as I have to first get all my phonebook contacts into Gmail now :p

I also really like the way the phone charges fast via USB, I am not going to use the plugin charger and just keep it in the car to take when travelling incase people I visit don't have a spare USB slot.

Pics? here we go!

It's MUCH smaller and lighter than you think when looking at PR photos, I have small hands for example and look how small it is. Amazed at how solid it's built though considering the size and weight!

Great pics, thanks mrk! I think im sold now!
Amen. Amazing pics there. Really does look a lot better than some other pics I've seen. Just made the phone look like a white/grey mess. :(

I must say that unless the new iPhone OS and the suspected new iPhone don't up the iPhone all round I might as well get this. When I have some spare cash that is. :(
