Windows 7 hits RC stage Build 7100

Have you got a 4gig USB drive?

If your PC can boot from USB just extract the ISO to a USB drive and it should boot fine, that is how I install Windows 7.

I don't understand why at first I did not want to move away from the Vista and earlier style taskbar buttons with text, I find that pretty awful now compared to the nice square icons.

Can you use any external HDD to install win7 from, could I use my WD Passport drive?

Very please with this, being running it since the TechNet release, much better than build 7000 which i had several I.E. 8 crashes and lockups, seems to love memory (but no shocker) so i've stuck another 4gb in and its running really nice with 8gb.

Just connected it to my Domain this morning (Server 2003 X64 RC2) and all seems well :)

Ok cool thanks, how do I find if I can boot from USB?

Go to the BIOS and look in there, alternatively on the post screen, press F8 repeatedly and you should see a list of devices to boot from, if your WD Passport HDD is on there then choose to boot from that and you should load up WIndows 7 install.

does folder size/positioning remembering work ok for everyone?
can't even find a "Remember each folder's view setting" option in folder/view.

even tried reinstalling but it still won't remember. :/

Anyone know a good icon to replace this? I really hate looking at this icon it looks awful:

Also how would I change the icon throughout windows?

Thanks.

I hate that icon aswell, I keep wondering what the hell it is, especially when using the 'small icons' taskbar. It just doesn't say 'explorer' too me.

Works for me. But I have to do it a few times on different types of folders depending on what their contents are (music, movies).

Anybody got any ideas as to why one of my HDDs disappears when using windows 7?

Basically ive got 3 HDDs installed. One for vista, one for windows 7 and one for games.
I can see and access all 3 in vista, but the games drive disappears when using windows 7?
