Isn't it scary how much on a night out?

You rarely actualy spend 100 quid.

Been there done it hundreds of times, every drink is a new note at the bar, thats the problem.

You either wake up next morning with about 30-40 quid in pound coins in your pocket (likely), or you actualy have blown the lot as you were having a crap night, started on the doubles early, started to play the demon bandit pulling nothing back, lumped on double footlong subs or whatever in multiples, feeling royaly depressed as you havn't pulled, you'd pay top dollar to have the taxi drop you dirrectly at your doorstep.

Thats pretty much how it goes, either way you go out with 100 notes in your wallet and look in it next morning and see a tenner at best.

Being a student in Bristol I have to say I enjoy a student night out more than going out on the weekends when the locals are out, but that's based on the fact that I've only ever had trouble from the locals who see it is their business to kick off at any student they can find.

That being said, a student night is not that much more fun :/

Oceana/Syndicate/Lizard Lounge where (unfortunately) most of my friends go are the worst :(

I've forfeited expensive nights/wee-ups for a month and treated myself to some nice new gadgets with the money saved :) It's plain ridiculous how much you can spend on a night out up town.

I've been talking about this with mates and we're looking at just taking turns to get a few crates in and then just drinking around each other's houses - especially now summer is upon us and it's possible to have BBQs - no need for the pub :D

I love Plymouth, £18 on a night out would do me just fine including entry and a shared taxi to/from, and some ludicrously expensive fast food.

Those were the days eh. Oh to be first year again :)

at most ill spend £60 on a night out, all inc of taxi's ( hop on the bus if you want 2 save getting in2 town :) )food, entry and drinks. For the past 3 weeks i havent gone out, but have put the £££ in a pot and will keep doing this until my holiday, simple way to save your money is dont take out 100 of your finest bills !

When I used to work in a nightclub, it always amazed me how much money people would just drop at the bar!

At the end of the night, staff would always be trying to be the first ones cleaning up around there, as you would find not just pound coins, but whole notes. I think one guy hauled about £60 something one evening.

Also I don't go out round George St. :p

That can easily soak up that £100 in just a few rounds :p

The best way to save money on a night out is to have a few drinks before you head out, buy a bottle between you and your mates, always a good start to the night, especially with a bit of fifa/pro evo aswell. Problem with that is you can lose track of time :p

I really don't know how you can spend that amount on a night out, on just drink alone. It would take a few special nights out for me to spend that amount, and includes taxi's, something to eat and woman of the stripping variety :D

Because student girls are much better than uneducated ones, aged between 18-23, normally much better in bed and much more adventurous?

And your competition for the night is, as you put it, "gimpy 18 year olds who have never been out before in their life covered in neon face paint"

Drinks are allot cheaper, dress code is more relaxed, much less trouble and if there is its easy to deal with (again, gimpy 18 year olds)....

Christ, are you people determined to just show your ignorance? There are not just student nights and Oceania in this world. Go out, experience a bit more of what there is and then come back and try have a conversation about it. Unless your from a tiny town, there is far more than student nights, and your mainstream friday/saturday night meat market. Although, to be honest, he 'meat market' factor sounds like exactly why you go out (your argument about student girls is utterly retarded as well by the way).. So your probably already sacraficing prefered music, venue, atmosphere etc. just for a higher chance of getting laid

Im actually a student at Bristol at the moment myself. Oceana, Syndicate etc. are exactly the places I avoid like the plague. What student nights do you go to that you consider good?

Also, have you even been to any of the 'better', according to myself, clubs in Bristol? Black Swan, Motion, Trinity, Chesters, etc?

You seriously don't know what's funny about your statement? You basically said a student night = a terrible night. Some of the best nights out have been in the "crappy" local student club. I'd much rather be around people who were out for a good night than in Chinawhite with a load of chavvy slaggy WAG wannabes.

Chinawhite is a bad example, since a) there are a large number of extremely hot girls, not necessarily chavvy at all b) There's very rarely any trouble at that kind of club.

He also proved he utterly misunderstands what Im getting at. The way people seem to be under the impression that there is only student nights and poncy weekend nights baffles me.. Neither are my cup of tea, at all.

Last night out I spent, no wait. I haven't gone out in about 8 months.

Do you have a long beard and do you live in a cave tucked away in a mountain-side? :D

The amount of cash I would save if I didn't go out for that long would be phenomenal, but I would go a bit mad I think.

I'm guilty of over spending whenever I go out, mainly because I don't really know how much I've spent until the end of the month when I check to see if my wages have gone in.

If you want to be more frugal, take out only the cash you want to spend with you. Leave any credit or cash cards at home, and tell your mates not to lend you any if you ask.

Simples. <meerkat noise>

And even then, there's good and bad events that could be categorised as either...

The "category" of the event doesn't necessarily make it automatically fun/awesome/rubbish...

I can go out and get drunk off of £20 if i wanted to, places where bottles are a quid, get 20 and it's only an hour walk home if you walk fast. But seeing as alcoholism is my hobby i tend to spend about £60 just on booze every friday.

I have spent triple figures before buying people drinks, chain smoking, getting a taxi home (though i would never consider getting one into town, waste of money, get a bus or walk). I very rarely get a taxi, £7 to go home? no, i'll walk thanks.

Ignoring special promotions, student prices etc it's not that unbelievable:

-Walk to the venue(s)
-Only pay for your own drinks, or 'balanced' rounds
-Don't pay for entry into anywhere
-Don't buy any food
-Choose places that serve fairly cheap drinks.
-If you must go in an expensive venue (clubs), don't buy any drinks

For those who can follow these steps, the only expenditure they will have is on relatively cheap booze, say £2-£2.50 a drink = 8-10 drinks from £20.

Obviously, some people can't do this stuff, but that's how some people can spend only £20.

that would be a crap night.
