New Track Day Car

atom would be a pain on the motorway there though. too much wind buffeting.

Yeah possibly but would be amazing on the track. It's not like you'd be driving to the track anyway if the weather was really bad because the event would be quite possibly cancelled.

Ah the KTM X-Bow  Very, very nice.

Caterhams and Exiges are out - too tiny for me.

Not got the time or inclination to undertake a major rebuild like that E43 although it looks one hell of a car.

I'll look into the KTM but in the meantime imagine a well-sorted Z06 :D

But you've just bought a track beast :confused::confused:

;)

Surely, the only place you'll ever want to really test it.
Agreed, however much better access to tracks in the UK and although I would track the 599, it would get very scruffy if I did so on a regular basis.

My money would go on an M3 CSL, taking into account your requirements. Even in standard trim, it would be awesome on the track, and i would imagine more than acceptable on the roads.

Although an Atom/r500/x-bow would be awesome fun, i wouldn't fancy racking up many miles driving to tracks in them, its more of a trailering car, especially if your wanting to do track days in europe, the nordschleife, or spa which would require a good few days driving before the track is even tackled.

My idea of a track car is a 7 or the like, or an Atom, but thats on more modest budgets.

How about something like a Ferrari 430 CS?

You could always go for the C5 Z06, if you wanted a good base for a track car - cheaper "in" and leaving more room for mods then.

They still do 0-60 in 3.9 and 0-100 in 9.2 bone stock, so stripped out, with a few light tweaks, it'll do very well. Hell, you can just ring up a few places and it will come back with 800-1000BHP if you want it and still be perfectly streetable :D

.....or more oddball, you could buy a C4 ZR1, or an older Callaway if you wanted something with more 'edge'. I'd be inclined to go with the C5, though, or a later C6 for heavy track useage.

Z06's do make good track cars though, very competent, reliable and tough :)

Put twin turbos on it, or a supercharger, at a later date for maximum grinnage :D

Depends how much you want to spend but I'd love an M3 CSL as a track car. Be sure to buy it a decent set of brakes first, however.

I dunno. Should be less than £50K but maybe more for something special.

Didn't realise the Vette had leaf springs

What's wrong with American cars?

Spie, have you considered a GT-R? Its bang on budget and can be modded with some spare cash into a cracking track machine :D

how about this for a curve ball

Litchfield Impreza Type 25

http://www.type-25.co.uk/

Porsche Brakes, Cosworth built engine with 415bhp, but good for 600 + if your mad enough. Fully adjustable suspension

0−60mph in 3.7sec
0−100mph in 8.7sec

but from the outside a comparatively normal looking impreza.
