Farcry 2 any good?

Played it recently and thought it was terrible. The enemies act like insects, are boring to pump rounds into and the driving is like an electric powered brick with skateboard wheels on.

I lasted about 45mins to an hour before I lost the will to live.

I wouldn't pay a tenner for it, let alone £22.

well I just a paid a tenner for it today, And I feel robbed :(, one of the worst games I've played on the PS3 so far, I was so disgraced by it I put it away in a draw so I didn't have to look at it sat next to my other games, this was an impulse buy that failed hard, the game is so boring I'm almost temped to keep it to help cure my insomnia.

Bought my old man it for his birthday on the 360. He does nothing but moan about it. Extremely boring is his main complaint followed by problems with save game files. Even updating it over XBL didn't fix his issues!

When he moans i think he's being polite as i bought him it. Behind my back i think he's really cursing it as a piece of ****! :D

I've played both the XBox version and the PC version and I can tell you quite easily that the PC version was way more fun, editor was miles ahead too.

Is the AI as bad though, because I had dudes just casually driving into lakes and trees on the PS3 version, perhaps it was the malaria messing with their sense of direction :p

The new patch that was released today for the Xbox 360 unfortunately only fixes the corruption problem with save files that have been created after the patch has been applied :(

I did 67% of the game until my save file became corrupted, I'm a bit tempted to play it again :p

Like Assassins Creed, it had amazing visuals, a massive open world, but when it comes to fun, it completely fell flat. The missions were basically the same thing over and over, and incredibly basic (go here, kill him). Its a shame really, the graphics and gunplay were great imo, they just wernt put together with some intresting cinematic missions.

Hopefully i'll be getting it soon from Tesco Rental so i'll be able to test it :)

I can imagine it being quite good, but then looking at some of the replies on here it could be really bad. Have to see :)

They've been pretty clever for the time I've played it for, the only hiccup I came across was a guy standing on a bridge getting run over by a friendly vehicle... was hilarious to see down a sniper scope :D

I played the demo, and I didnt even complete that. Terribly boring, which is a shame, because i loved the first one

Not a single developer from Farcry 1 was involved in Farcry 2. Crysis is the 'real' sequel to farcry as it comes from the same developers, the setting is also very similar imo.

Rubbish. Frankly, I find it insulting to have to shoot a person in the head six times before they die.

Then your aim is way off!

A single shot to the head results in an instant kill, never had a problem with it on the game.

I liked it. So much so that I even completed it to the very end which is a rarity for me these days. I think it was just the fun of exploring the vast landscape which did it. Having to keep shooting any bugger you met along the way was NOT fun.

I take my hat off to you! Honestly am in awe at anyone who manages to stick through the frustration and boredom to complete it.

It had potential, and there was some fun to it, and if you forced yourself into a bit of variety by changing weapons, that definitely extended the lifespan somewhat, but yeah, a whole loads of flaws that stopped it being a top game. Group AI that completely rendered any attempt at stealth often pointless (take down a single guy, out of sight from everyone else, with a silenced gun, and yet they all still get alerted? Psh), an utterly irrelevant and terribly implemented faction system (EVERYBODY shoots at you in the wild, NOBODY shoots at you in safe zones), and a plot so tiresome you can't begin to care about it (the Jackal BOOO, except wait no, maybe YAY, I think. Haven't you lost interest yet? Go away).

I'd have loved them to have taken a leaf out of GTAs book and actually tried to make it more like a living, breathing, African state in turmoil. Proper towns, villages, people that aren't army dudes going about their daily routines. Baddies that try to stop you rather than shoot on sight. That kind of thing.
