Hey guys, sorry to post another thread about egay! but i purchased an 8gb sandisk extreme III and just had it delivered today only to find its a fake. I have escalated a claim with paypal and now just waiting for the seller to respond. I got a funny feeling the seller isnt going to reply as i have sent him numerous messages and he has yet to reply to one of them.

So what do i do now? I'm £30 down and not a happy chappy

Never buy memory cards off that place - there are loooads of fakes there.
And they're not that much cheaper, I'd rather pay full price and not run the risk!

It's fairly certain you'll get your money back so I shouldn't worry too much about it.

Never, ever buy memory cards on Ebay.

The only time I'd do it would be buying from a non-trader (i.e. low-ish feedback but high percentage of good results, not selling hundreds of the things) who had a unique picture of the item.

Even then, I'd be wary.

*update* the guy has now issued a refund, funds are on temporary hold??? i guess i have to wait for it to clear or something? also do i send the i d 1 0 t back his sd card? he didnt provide me with a return address.

I bought a sandisk extreme iv 4gb years ago which was fake,

Did a paypal dispute, got my money back after a month. Seller unregistered off ebay so it was a straight forward claim. Didn't send the fake item back.

Got my money and a free 4gb card, Works a charm, just not very fast

If it's fake, I guess the quality may not be as good and it may well get corrupted more easily.

Fuji Class 6 SD cards which I guess are equivalent to teh Sandisk ones are available for quite cheap if you look around.

Sounds like you got a poor quality fake then, Mine was amazing well faked, only way to tell was to bench the card. Got only 10Mb/s instead of 30Mb/s as promised.

If the seller cuts and runs and emties the paypal account, then your stuffed, but since they have issued a refund I have no idea. Ask ebay if you should send it back now or later?

I buy plenty of ebay, as has been said, because you cannot get a lot of it anywhere else.
