Hey mates,
I recently bought a Q6600 G0 stepping and I'm looking for a board for it. My budget is </= 80. I would like to overclock, have sli, and pcie 2.0. I can live without sli if it is going to put me far out of budget.

My current parts that I want to tranfer into my new rig:

4gb OCZ Platinum 800mhz ddr2 (is this overclockable ram?)
450w generic psu (I know I need a better one but all in due time)
9600 gso xfx

Thanks in advance!

For overclocking I'd get a non-SLI board and a decent PSU. These CPUs use loads of power when overclocked - mine's only at 3.2, and I reckon it can use 135w on its own.

SLi is not a necessary feature and I would definitely avoid it if you don't 100% need it. Almost all Nvidia chipset boards are poor performers compared to their Intel brethren, and they don't overclock very well either, especially with quads.

I had a lot of issues trying to oc a q6600 past 3.0ghz on a 680i board, same chip in a p45 hit 3.8ghz with relative ease.

Hey my ninja friend (the op) just got his chip in the mail and was thinking about this board: EVGA 132-YW-E178-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ***

I'm not much help to him as I completely skipped the 775 quads and the last dual I had was in a non OC'able intel board...

Sadly my 680i died a few months after getting the q6600, (borked memory controller) had an E6600 at 3.7ghz on it previously and found it to be a very easy board to oc on with a dual core, particularly liked the option to run the ram unlinked, coupled with 2 640mb 8800gts cards it was a nice gaming rig.
