Just a random post and small vent, never going to change the world but hey.

Had a call from the misses this morning crying as she went out the back to find our 2 rabbits dead on the lawn.

We had 1 male over 7 years and 1 female 5years. Each in there own hutch. We have had issues with peoples dogs getting out and trying to get them and it looks like this time they managed to get at them.

I like dogs and don't blame them its the owners who feel they can just let their dogs out to roam the streets.

had to come home from work to pick them up and store them till I can bury them

Its a shame because we have had them for ages and although the male was coming to the end of his life its not a nice way for him to go, and not a nice site for my wife and 6 year old.

Grrr............/vent

Sorry that your family have had such a tragic and shocking encounter, it must have been awful.

I don't know where you live, but I know someone who is looking to re home some baby bunnies in the near future in Buckinghamshire.

[Rimmer's father has died. The Cat attempts to console him]

The Cat: About your father. If it's any help, he's in the ground now. Sure, it's bad news for him. But on the other hand, it's party time for all those little worms.

This happened to our neighbours a few years back, though it was a fox. Most of the dogs around here wouldn't have figured out how to get into the hutch! Those foxes are cunning.

Its a very built up area have never seen a fox ever and I would have expected the fox to at least have attempted to eat them.

They are both in hutches but the boys handle looks to have been ripped off its only a piece of wood and the girls run side panel had been pulled off.

Looking at them there was no attempt to eat them looks like they where shook. And dumped.

Also I have had to chase the dogs out of the garden in the past. So I made tweaks to the hutches to protect them (obviously failed)

Foxes will usually either eat them on the spot or take them with them, or you may find that he head has gone and just the body is left.

Sorry to hear about your rabbits :(

My dog will chase rabbits (wild ones) if given the chance, but he doesn't know what to do if he catches them... never seen him attack anything. Dogs with that nature shouldn't be let off the lead let alone left free to wander.

I don't blame the dogs they are just doing what all dogs would do, if the rabbit had escaped and got eat thats life, its the fact they where in their hutches where they should be safe and people round here seem to think letting the dogs out rather than walking them is the way to go.

Downside to the area i live i suppose :(

If it was a fox it probably would've taken the rabbits head off and carried the body away to eat.
